I hope every author has someone read through and connect their work the way @roxanegay74 has done for me here. What a pleasure and an honor. Makes a person want to attend a zoom webinar, no?
This month in The Audacious Book Club, we're talking about The Violence: My Family’s Colombian War by Adriana E. Ramírez. I hope you'll join our discussion about this fantastic book at The Audacity and at our Zoom discussion on May 27 at 8 p.m. ET. Read more about this book and register for our discussion here or at the link in my stories: https://ow.ly/RYA750YWgWl
I love @webdaboi so much. This is such a wonderful gift, I am beside myself. Now... does she belong on a shelf? Or should I make an entire altar to the promise she represents?
Thank you to the extraordinary @xochitltheg for having me on her nightstand. It's truly an honor. And "Last Night in Brooklyn" is, in a true coincidence, on my nightstand right now. I've only started it, but it's already SO GOOD.
We closed out our 2025–26 Made Local series last night at the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall with a final event that brought the season full circle. Pittsburgh writer, critic, and poet, Adriana E. Ramírez, in conversation with local journalist Tony Norman, reminded us that fraught histories are tapestries of real, complicated human lives, and that approaching these stories with empathy and curiosity can lead us to unexpected truths. It embodied our goal of connecting readers and writers while opening space for meaningful conversation.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and for those who couldn't, we hope to see you on May 11th for our last Ten Evenings lecture with Michael Chabon, where we'll unveil the forthcoming season.
Signed copies of Ramírez's "The Violence" are available at @whitewhalebks .
As every Pittsburgh writer knows @pghartslectures is a dream venue. I'm thrilled to be there this Thursday to discuss my new book and to step on that stage as local author now part of its storied history. Please join me, whether in person or online! (link in bio!)
I am home from two weeks away of readings and events for TheViolence! I promptly got a fancy mezcalrita with a cute guy at our favorite restaurant. @tepachepgh

Thank you to Community College of Philadelphia’s Latine graduation committee for having me as the graduation keynote speaker. I admit, I got more emotional than I expected congratulating these grads on their achievements!
