This Thanksgiving season, I have truly done the most, in the best way. I have had the privilege of hosting four different Friendsgiving potlucks, and these photos are from the second one, held last weekend.
This gathering was with my @adodinational brothers. Adodi was the very first SGL community I was introduced to when I arrived in the U.S. eight years ago, thanks to my late godfather, Maxsonn Smith. Adodi was where I was first affirmed, seen, and held. So being able to host the first Adodi Atlanta Friendsgiving this year felt like a full-circle honor.
Last night, I hosted my 3rd annual Friendsgiving potluck, and I was so busy hosting, and making sure everyone was good that I didn’t even take a single picture or video. But from all the feedback I’ve received, I know folks had an amazing time and that’s what matters most.
People always ask me, “Where do you get your strength from? How do you manage to cook and host all these gatherings?” Honestly, I don’t fully know either. What I do know is that I love seeing people eat, connect, and feel joy. With everything happening in the world, creating spaces of warmth and community is my way of making an impact one plate, one laugh, one gathering at a time.
