Weeks posts
Had a few days spare in London the other week so took the time to shoot some street bits in between eating every pastry in the city. It's funny, everyone always says that the best time to shoot is golden hour but there's something about really harsh midday light that I really like, especially when using shadows to create contrast. #fujifilm #photography #streetphotography #London #candid

A lovely week in London, in which @acsimon drinks her first pint and learns to ride a bike, I eat every single pastry in the south, and I watch @toe_music_official after years of praying for them to come over. 10/10.

A little bit of everyday life in Kamakura. Still trying to learn how to become better at filming, I look back through a lot of the footage from previous trips and realise there’s stuff I could have shot so much better. #kamakura #japan #fujifilm #fyp #beautifuldestinations

You lot came CORRECT for the first ever @cribsessions._ which is honestly unsurprising given what an event with Faro is usually like. Big love to @faro._ and @_vida_a for organising the whole thing and for having me down, you guys are the realest. Stoked to see what you do next. As always, I've tagged as many people as possible but if I've forgotten you my bad, I met so many people that night I can't remember everyone's handles 🤷‍♂️ call me out in the comments 🙃

A little video postcard of everyday life in Onomichi. It must be bliss to be able to just go and sit at the waterfront every evening to watch the sun set on such an amazing place. #japan #fujifilm #onomichi #videography #fyp

Mikan. A short video about an indigo dyer in Onomichi. Even though this was quite a spontaneous shoot, it’s quite a personal one for me so I’d really appreciate it if you could take the time to watch it all. I always take a trip to visit some friends in Japan, on a small island off the coast of Onomichi. They are both clothes makers, Yuji does amazing work for Visvim and Aika is a super talented seamstress also. However, this story is not about them. One morning on the beach, a small figure was being dragged along by her dog as she tried her hardest to keep it in check. Her hands are stained a dark blue and she’s wearing the most amazing outfit, clearly crafted by herself. Turns out she’s an indigo dyer and she knows Yuji quite well. We get chatting and she invites us over later on so I can see her house/workshop, this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. We head round the back of Yuji’s house, through alleyways covered with vines and decades old farming equipment strewn everywhere and finally get to Sachiko’s place. This isn’t just her home, it’s her workshop also and it just blows me away, she’s creating indigo AND garments from start to finish, completely naturally, even bleaching designs onto the clothes using the sun and stencils. I’ve had 0 time to prepare but I flick the camera on and get shooting, trying to take in as much information as possible whilst also keeping the camera as steady as I can. It’s not a great video, it was created in spur of the moment, but it’s honest and hopefully tells a bit of a story about this wonderful shokunin who I wish we had more of in this world. Even after buying a pair of socks from her, she gifted me a 2nd pair AND found the time to pluck some persimmons for me for my trip back to Onomichi. Sachiko, thank you so much, I’ll be forever grateful. #japan #beautifuldestinations #fyp #onomichi #japantravel

Tokyo by Night. I have very much been neglecting my Instagram as of late (shocker), just been having a much nicer (and more successful) time on TT and Threads. Spose I need to get back to this regularly and see if I can get a bit of traction again. Got some videos from the end of last year nearly ready to show, the editing is sending me under so it'll be done when it's done. #tokyo #japan #streetphotography #nightphotography #japantravel

The problem with cramming so many locations into 2 weeks is that I'm forced to go and visit the most popular art island for only a couple of hours. And whilst Chichu Art Museum is absolutely worth the trip, you can't shoot in there so instead I spent the time just capturing the locals going about their morning, which ifyou think about it, is art in itself. 🤷‍♂️ #japan #naoshima #yayoikusama #chichuartmuseum #travelphotography

Wasn't allowed to shoot inside Teshima Art Museum (depriving me of my Tadao Ando dreams) so had to do the next best thing and capture some of the locals as they go about their daily lives (or are they art too?) Fully recommend doing a few days to be able to visit all the islands as the ferries don't run regularly enough for you to island hop, and definitely hire a bike to get around, they're super cheap (and electric) which makes navigating the hilly terrain SO much easier. Also does anyone think the Art Museum resembles an onigiri 🍙🍙?

Nothing in Japan is really that far away due to the bullet train being SO good, but it's still a few hours to Onomichi. Totally worth it though, from the friends I've made to the abundance of actually really fun things to do (looking at you @onomichi_museum ). Also with this being a port town, you know you get some of the best cuisine you'll have in Japan. Fully recommend if you want to visit somewhere different to the obvious bigger cities. #japan #onomichi #japantraveltips #beautifuldestinations #hiroshima
