đCongratulations to MĂłnica Morales-HernĂĄndez, associate teaching professor of mathematics and computer science, and Andrew Lee, assistant professor of mathematics and computer science, on receiving a special recognition from the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) for their work with Metro NExT (New Experiences in Teaching), a professional development program for new and recent Ph.D.s in mathematics. The program aims to build a community of new faculty and graduate students in the NY Metro MAA Section and help participants develop effective strategies for all aspects of professional life, from teaching to research to service. Metro NExT is also one of only two Section NExT programs in the country to host its own annual meeting separate from its sectionâs regular meetings.

đCongratulations đto Kellyann Monaghan, professor and chair of art & art history, whose paintings were recently featured and celebrated alongside the work of Samantha Dominik, adjunct professor of art & art history in the exhibition This Fragile Earth, Our Island Home at The Gallery at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The exhibition, which opened with a reception on April 30, includes original work by faculty and students from the Adelphi University Department of Art & Art History created in response to Luke Jerramâs monumental Gaia installation, and remains on view through the end of May. At the gala, both professor Monaghan and Professor Dominik gave brief presentations on their work.
Professor Monaghanâs luminous, emotionally charged oil paintings explore the volatile expressions of our changing climate, capturing landscapes of radical weather with both urgency and grace. Professor Dominik, along with her students, created a series of sculptures representing the Four ElementsâEarth, Water, Fire, and Airâinstalled throughout the Cathedralâs historic nave in dialogue with Gaia. Together, these works create an immersive environment where contemporary art, sacred architecture, and ecological awareness converge. #artstudio @adelphiart
