For many, lockdown has created new problems related to weight as eating habits have changed in these unprecedented times. A recent survey shows that 48% of people say they have put on weight during lockdown, the same percentage reporting feeling more anxious or depressed than usual, and 29% saying they have drunk more alcohol. Clearly, many are reaching for the snacks and into the alcohol cabinet for comfort as we’ve spend more time at home. Unnoticeably, creating new unhealthier habits. If you fall into the 48% of people who have gained - this post is not attended to make you feel bad. People gain and lose weight all the time. Take myself as a prime example. Everyone sometimes experience stressors in their life that make us lose our direction. BUT... My progress shows you that YOU CAN change your current situation in only a matter of months to years of being consistent. It can start today through creating new simple habits. Here are some tips to help you get started that you can implement immediately: - Calorie deficit. To lose weight, the average person should reduce their daily calorie intake by 500kcal. If you’re unsure how much cals you should be eating. Use an online calculator to get your own personal weight loss calorie allowance. You don’t have to go as OTT as this to begin with (that can come later). Start off by simply cutting out snacks, or eating smaller portions than you have been. You’ll naturally start losing weight by simply doing this. - Be more active. This can be something as simple as walking 10,000 steps a day to increase your expenditure. - Weight training. Can be done from home, and now that gyms have started to reopen you really have no excuse! When it comes to fat loss, most people embark on a program of cardio and dieting. Strength training coupled with diet and cardio burns fat far more than cardio and diet alone. - Balance. Losing weight is all about balance, and you have to make your diet realistic. If you are too strict, you won’t be able to carry this on. - Will. The will to start! Once you see results you will be much happier (and healthier) Hope this post helpđŸ™ŒđŸŸ
