Camera Roll Orgy

Opening Reception: May 16th, 6-8pm
In the back section of a pest control shop in the Lower East Side, collectors of fine art will flock to see the latest offerings from the camera rolls of:
Lyle Ashton Harris @lyleashtonharris
Luca Imperatori @luca.imperatori.00
Paul Levack @paul_levack
Justin Leveritt @jleveritt
David Lindsay @_day___worl
Ryan McGinley @ryanmcginleystudios
Armando Nin @212armando
Jack Pierson @jackpierson9
Thomas Polcaster @thomaspolcaster
Nick Sethi @sicknethi
Lucien Smith @feareatsthesoil
All eleven artists are presenting new works for this exhibition. Camera Roll Orgy reckons with the materiality of digital images that are being viewed for increasingly shorter lengths of time. Often forgotten, left behind and neglected as digital waste, the artists assert: these pictures are meant to be viewed. Yes, they are images, but they are objects too, and they are laden with utility, vanity, humor, sexuality, despair, euphoria and agency. These uniquely private photographic works finally see the light of day in Camera Roll Orgy.

Camera Roll Orgy is the first exhibition presented by ‘The Shop’, Addison Pest Control’s community space for cultural programming. Addison employs exclusively artists, writers and other creatives, providing gainful work while they develop their artistic practice and creative career paths. Addison was founded in Toronto in 2009 by Avery Addison Hunsberger and has recently expanded to New York, along with The Shop, which was co-founded with Matt Weinberger.
