Sometimes the only cure is to take a break from the day to day and go play.
Thank you @heyl1am for being a perfect muse and @mattolaughlin for lending us your pool and holding my light.

Today I updated a program on my computer and when it reopened, it brought up the last project I was working on. This session was over a year ago.
I loved everything about this beautiful studio maternity session, but I never shared it. I shot this series with the intention of putting it all together in a way that I believe is a universal reminder of the feeling of childhood and being surrounded by your children.
But then I didn’t feel like it fit where I was supposed to share it. That in trying to play by the curated rules of Instagram wouldn’t make sense to the audience that I had attracted amongst my wedding work.
So I forgot about it.
If you’re an IRL friend, you might’ve noticed that this account has changed names a few times. It used to be my personal account where I shared photos of my family. Then my boys started asking me not to post their photos on Instagram, so I stopped.
Then I transitioned it to my thrifting side hobby page and sometimes shared about my vintage booths, thrifting adventures or a beloved past time of of playing dress up. But then I got worried about the algorithms again and it felt like a chore that I just didn’t wanna do.
So here I am. Opening up the old projects, saying fuck it, and posting them.
If you want the pretty curated work, give me a follow over at @deannajohnsonphotography
If you’re down for just going along for the ride and seeing whatever happens, this is the place to be. A dumping ground for the photos, projects, treasures, and ideas that just don’t fit in with the necessary branding of a business.
Messy, imperfect, and (sorry mom) there will probably be a few fucks tossed in for good measure.
The change a long time in the making.
No more hiding behind the should dos from other voices.
This change is more than just a name. It is me owning my identity and the stories that I tell. It’s showing up for myself so I can show up fully for those whom I have the honor to serve.
Follow @deannajohnsonphotography and join me for this bold new chapter.

BIG CHANGE. SAME VISION.
A Day to Adore Photography is now DEANNA JOHNSON PHOTOGRAPHY.
This name change is more than a rebrand — it’s a declaration. I’m owning my craft, my style, and my name.
Every photo I take is a piece of who I am, and now, my business reflects that.
What’s changing? Just the name.
What’s not? My dedication to creating powerful, honest, unforgettable images.
This is the next chapter — and it’s personal.
