After a split single release on the label, the Kraków-based producer Aloupe returns to Sounds of a Slaughterhouse with an EP.
Lucid, etc is an alloy of synthesized melodic ripples and lurching drum loops, all carrying a rather nocturnal atmosphere.
Unnerving rustles, stray bursts of energy and distant echoes contribute to a feeling of restless uncertainty - and yet it may be an oddly comforting listen. With lucidity comes a realization that one is inevitably destined for obscurity, is that not a soothing thought?

“Behind The Sine” starts with Shelley’s brisk arpeggio, chopped adlibs and dreamy pads, coupled with a rhythmic pulse reminiscent of UK garage drum patterns. A warm, inviting atmosphere is carried on by Loggerhead's playful bassline, which contrasts with a rough, staggering beat. Textured noises and rustling hi-hats come forward in Pebble Tongue, an experimental 154 bpm squeaky groove, and prepare us for the grittier part of the release. Mortal Tedium challenges the listener with a scattering bassline and eerie vocals, and finally Lousse closes the release, with flute stabs weaving their way through semi-rhythmic drums.
