Feeling really grateful today. Calder @farside.films put this video together as a passion project for Adaptive Peaks, and he absolutely captured the heart of what this is all about. Thank you, Calder, for the time, care, and quality you poured into this—it means so much.
The video shares a bit about my journey and why I started Adaptive Peaks, along with some amazing moments from our recent Climbing Social Day. Seeing everyone come together, cheering each other on, and just being a team—that’s what Adaptive Peaks is meant to be.
This isn’t just my project; it’s a community. Everyone who shows up, supports, and believes in it is part of the Adaptive Peaks team. And I’m so excited to see where we can go together.
Thank you sooo much to @gearupsportcanmore for donating climbing equipment for the day🤗
Functional strength training with Sam, Adam, and “Sam #2” today 💪
We worked on functional movement patterns like lifting, carrying, crawling, jumping, and balancing through natural terrain. With individuals living with Down syndrome, we stay mindful of things like joint stability, muscle tone, pacing, and fatigue while still creating opportunities to build strength, confidence, and independence.
The boys worked hard today and were absolutely exhausted by the end. Really excited to have “Sam #2” joining the Adaptive Peaks team and already crushing goals!

One year of Adaptive Peaks.🩷
It’s been a big year for me. Running this bussiness on my own has pushed me a lot. There were definitely some really tough moments along the way… but I worked through them. With the help from the incredible people in my life.
The best part has been the people. The clients, families, therapists, aides, my friends, my family… the team that’s come together around it. It really feels like a community, and I’m really proud of that.
I’m stoked with what we’re building. There’s a lot of intention behind it, and I see it in how people are showing up and going after their goals without settling.
I feel really grateful for everything this year has been. Still a bit surreal.
Thank you @farside.films for the photo🥰
#WorldDownSyndromeDay
So much love for these four amazing members of the Adaptive Peaks team 🩷 Mark, Carter, Sam, and Adam.
For World Down Syndrome Day, I just want to celebrate them for the awesome individuals they are. They are all so different in their personalities, strengths, humour, and the way they move through the world, and that’s something I really value in this work.
They are hardworking, full of life, and each bring so much joy, kindness, and heart to this community. I feel really lucky to know them, learn from them, and spend time with them.
Down syndrome, also called Trisomy 21, means a person has an extra copy of chromosome 21. But like anyone else, each person with Down syndrome is their own full and unique person, and that always comes first.
Really grateful for these four and everything they bring to Adaptive Peaks 🩷

Cupcakes and a birthday song for Reese today 🧁🎶
Baking together actually takes a lot of skills… following steps, measuring, mixing, waiting, decorating. Lots of fine motor, sensory stuff, and a bit of patience while they bake.
Learning, independence, and celebrating Reese all in one.

Listen to Alice talk about PIZZZZZA 🍕
Ski days with Alice are the best. Today we were working on our pizza turns and finding ways to keep our bodies calm and ready to learn. When she’s regulated she picks things up so fast.
Sometimes the ski lesson is really about the skiing… and sometimes it’s about figuring out what helps her body feel good so she can ski.
Things that helped today
deep pressure (buried her in the snow and lots of hugs)
snacks
deep breaths
singing on the magic carpet
little toys and stories
When we slow things down and meet kids where they’re at, the learning happens. And the smiles too.

Adam & Sam teamed up this week for a session and it was such a good one.
We combined their time to work on teamwork and social interaction.
Both Adam and Sam have Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21. It can impact muscle tone, coordination, expressive speech, processing speed, and sometimes confidence in new environments. It doesn’t define someone’s personality or potential but it does shape how they experience the world day to day.
That’s why sessions like this matter.
We always start with stretching. Many individuals with Down syndrome experience low muscle tone (hypotonia), so building body awareness and strength is important. Stretching and consistency help create routine and physical readiness before we climb.
Sam knows the gym so well since he’s there every week, and it was really cool to see him step into that leadership role, showing Adam around, explaining where things are, helping him understand how the space works. Navigating space, giving directions, and processing multi-step environments are real-life skills we intentionally practice.
This is therapy through recreation.
We’re working on independence by navigating the gym and managing gear.
We’re working on speech and communication by giving directions, asking questions, and relaying what’s needed.
We’re working on social skills by cheering each other on and solving problems together.
The climbing is just the vehicle.
The real goal is helping them feel capable, connected, and confident in real spaces.
Really proud of these two. 💛

Just love this pic of Ramon and I! He’s been such an active member of the team and has been absolutely crushing goals in communication and mobility 💪 So proud of you Ramon. Can’t wait to see what’s next! 🩷
Thanks @millie.noble for the photo.
@farside.films This guy has been out on the ski hill getting footage for Adaptive Peaks and honestly I’m so grateful. He’s doing it purely as a passion project because he believes in what I’m building, and that kind of support means a lot.
So lucky to have people like this in my corner
Sam making me breakfast this morning !
And yes… he tried pulling up YouTube at the table 😅
I was hesitant… until I realized it was our team member Adam’s YouTube channel !
Nothing better than seeing clients support each other + hype up their community.
Crushing goals and building connection 🩷
Starting a new process with Ramon 🤍
We’re putting together short videos of his routines and equipment, all linked to QR codes, so everyone supporting him can quickly scan and check they’re doing things safely and consistently.
This clip shows how we set up Ramon’s communication device on his wheelchair — small details, but they make a big difference for comfort and access.
Adaptive Peaks helps organize the pieces and turn therapy plans into routines that actually work in real life.
More to come.

This is Carter 💛
We’re just starting a new routine and it’s already feeling good — nothing fancy, nothing intense. A quick daily FaceTime check-in (like 5 minutes), a little nudge, and he’s moving.
Having a routine and someone in your corner to help you stick to it can make a big difference. He feels proud, I get to cheer him on, and that’s the whole point.
Also we just received another incredibly generous GoFundMe donation and my heart is very full 🧡
If you’re curious about what we’re building or want to help support keeping this going (Norquay pass secured, insurance + tax season around the corner 😅), the link is in the bio.
