Flash back 2014 - Onset Dresser for a TV show (THE WHISPERS) ABC. Hustling. Working between non union independent projects as an art director just to get days to join the guild. I had already done a feature and several shorts films as a production designer. It was a bit of a struggle and I was making no money but I was determined to be a production designer in the film industry. Six months later I was asked to design the movie DOPE and it changed my life forever. Hard work, sacrifice, determination and talent made me ready but it was the risk I took that presented the opportunity. I was 43, Married with two small kids. I’m grateful that my family supported me. Im grateful to the art dogs who banded together to help lift me. Most of all I am grateful to believe in myself enough to take risks.
I can’t believe where my career has taken me. It was an absolute pleasure to work with @gkfilms , @antoinefuqua , @ddbeebe , the incredible art department, set Dec, Props , locations, construction, SFX, VFX, transportation, the cast, crew and Production! SEE THIS FILM!
So, people are always curious as to what I’m doing on my off time when I go to my desert House. It’s actually kinda the same thing I do when I’m at home in LA. Mostly just goofing off during the day and then relaxing… sometimes entertaining/goofing off with good friends at night. If that’s wrong I’m not trying to be right.
