The fire was devastating. Tools, machinery, stock, history and the four walls that held generations of work — gone.
But, in the middle of it all, something held. The calls started immediately: “What do you need?” “How can we help?” “When will you rebuild? We are with you…!”
We are so humbled by our community’s love and support. It gives us strength to carry-on.
We’ve been knocked down but we’re recovering. We’ve set up temporary spot for operations we’re calling the Bunker.
We’re back to work — a little slower, but with the same hands and the same stubborn belief in what we do.
We are rising from the ashes, shitkickers on. Still alive and kicking.

I never could've imagined everybody rallying behind me as much as you all have. Your donations have given me a second chance at doing what I love and carrying on my families legacy. Adan Lemus worked at Dayton Boots for around 5 years, which was recently devastated in a fire, and like everyone who worked there, he lost everything. He's extremely talented and is one of the few shoemakers left in Vancouver, BC. Not only was the historic Dayton Boot Factory lost, but he also lost his livelihood. The fire destroyed all the machines, lasts, patterns, leathers, materials, hardware, etc. that he worked hard to harness over the past 10 years; some of which were irreplaceable antiques and family heirlooms passed down by his father and grandfather, who taught him shoemaking.
Adan is currently in the Yukon on contract work and is unable to collect and assess the full extent of the damage done to his studio, and he needs our help. If you can help him reestablish his practice and get back on his feet by either donating to the cause or spreading the word to others for help, that would be greatly appreciated!
