The Greater Richmond Fit4Kids Learn to Ride Program at Richmond Public Schools helps younger Virginians discover the joy of biking 🚲 It was great to visit Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary to see the program in action.
If you’re looking for a bike for your child or have an old one to donate, @bellemeadebikes is hosting their annual Youth Bike Swap this Saturday right down the street from the school. More details are in my story.
Grateful for the opportunity to visit Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center during Military & Veteran Caregiver Month and National Nurses Week.
This talented team of nurses provides compassionate care to those who served our country. It was an honor to hear their stories and to see firsthand what makes Sitter & Barfoot so special.
Thank you to the Sitter & Barfoot nursing team, and nurses across the Commonwealth, for the great work you do. ❤️
It’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Virginia, and there's still time to visit the Valentine Museum’s special exhibit, “Generations: Stories of Asian Americans in Richmond.” It was meaningful to see how Asian American communities have grown and evolved in our capital city. The museum’s website is linked in my story for anyone interested in visiting.
As we close out Teacher Appreciation Week and head into Mother’s Day weekend, I wanted to give a special shoutout to my mom. 🍎📚
My mom spent 30 years as an educator in Virginia public schools, instilling in me from a young age a great deal of respect, gratitude, and admiration for Virginia’s teachers.
Thank you, Mom, for dedicating your career to helping young Virginians succeed in the classroom and beyond.
Happy National Bike and Roll to School Day! 🚲 The “Bike Bus” movement is a fun, healthy way to get moving and rethink the school commute. I’ve had a great time joining students and families at Naomi Brooks and Hugh Mercer Elementary Schools on their rides. Looking forward to hopping on more bike buses across the Commonwealth!
Friday was a GREAT day for Virginia cyclists and trail enthusiasts! I joined Mayor Danny Avula, Virginia Secretary of Transportation Nick Donohue, and community members in Kanawha Plaza to celebrate Richmond’s commitment to the Fall Line Trail, launch VDOT’s State Trails Plan, and share the Governor’s proclamation recognizing May as Bike Month. More information is linked in my story.

Congratulations to Nottoway High School special education teacher Madeline Duffy for being named Virginia’s Teacher of the Year for 2027!
Ms. Duffy started a coffee shop at the high school called the “Cougar Cafe” where students learn money, communication, and cooking skills by delivering drinks to school employees.
In addition to Ms. Duffy, we recognized 7 other teachers from across the Commonwealth who are making a real difference in students’ lives. This group represents the best of the best among teachers and I am so grateful for their hard work.
💙🚲 Happy Bike Month, Richmond!
We kicked off the month by celebrating our incredible state and local trails — including the Fall Line Trail, 43 miles connecting communities, schools, and jobs across 7 localities.
A huge thank you to our speakers including Mayor @dannyavula and First Gentleman @adamspanberger , for championing trail access and keeping Richmond moving.
Shoutout to our amazing partners @bikewalkrva and @sportsbackers for joining the fun! 🙌
Want to know what’s coming up this month? Of course you do! Check out the full schedule of events and activities at sportsbackers.org/rva-bike-month
The Northern Virginia Science Center in Loudon County is set to open next summer with five galleries offering interactive and innovative experiences for Virginians of all ages. As part of the Science Museum of Virginia network, joining the Danville Science Center, NOVASci will bring the magic of STEM discovery and education to a new corner of the Commonwealth.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Executive Mansion on Friday to close out Historic Garden Week. 🌱🌷For more than 90 years, @gardenclubofvirginia has used this tradition to raise funds for the preservation of Virginia’s public landscapes.
Earlier this month, I joined the Hybla Valley community to celebrate the opening of a new SPARC location and The Mobile Exploration Lab, expanding access to transportation, sensory experiences, and hands-on STEM learning for adults with disabilities. SPARC's accessible, reliable, and dynamic community services are an impactful example of what happens when Virginians come together to support and uplift one another.
We celebrated Earth Day at the Executive Mansion yesterday with the Commonwealth’s environmental advocates and leaders. 🌎 Very proud of Virginia’s natural beauty and those who protect it! 🌿
