Opening night magic ✨
“Feels Like the First Time: The Foreigner Musical” officially rocked the stage Friday night at Long Island University, and it truly lived up to its name.
Under the direction of Adam Pascal, this brand-new production brought the iconic sound of Foreigner to life with heart, humor, and a whole lot of electricity. From the first note to the final bow, the energy in the room was undeniable.
Presented as part of LIU’s New Works Initiative, this production is a shining example of what happens when new stories are given the space to grow, connecting legendary music with fresh theatrical storytelling in an exciting, meaningful way.
Set against a nostalgic 1980s backdrop, the show weaves together a story of family, dreams, and second chances, powered by Foreigner’s legendary hits.
A true highlight of the evening: the presence of original Foreigner member Al Greenwood, whose music helped define a generation and now finds new life on stage. His support adds an incredible full-circle moment to this exciting new musical.
Bravo to the cast, creative team, and everyone involved in bringing this production to the stage. If opening night is any indication, this show is just getting started. 🎸🔥

Adam is a Tony Award nominee and Drama League and Obie Award winner, originating the role of Roger in RENT. Last night, the journey officially began.
The cast and creative team gathered at Long Island University for the first read-through of Feels Like the First Time – The FOREIGNER Musical, and the energy in the room was electric. 🎸✨
This inaugural production is directed by Tony-nominated Adam Pascal (RENT, Aida, Cabaret, Chicago, Something Rotten!), who also serves as Long Island University’s inaugural 2025/26 Artist-in-Residence. The production is produced by Tom Dunn, Dean of the College of Arts & Design at Long Island University and Executive and Artistic Director of Tilles Center.
The creative team includes:
• Songs by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers FOREIGNER
• Book Writer Stephen Garvey (The Bardy Bunch, Five Golden Rings, Stages of Rita)
• Orchestrator & Arranger David Abbinanti (Heartbreak Hotel, Saturday Night Fever: The Musical, Ghost: The Musical)
• Choreographer Lorna Ventura (The Other Americans, Public Theater; Broadway Original Company/Associate Choreographer: Wicked, Nice Work If You Can Get It, All Shook Up, Grease)
