"The World as Non-Objectivity" is finally out.
During his trip to Germany in 1927 to the Bauhaus, avant-garde painter and theorist Kazimir Malevich completed the writing of one of his most mind-blowing and hermetic treatises, entitled "The
Non-Objective World." In this writing the painter questioned the need to bring non-objective feelings to expression, something that had haunted him since he painted one of his most iconic paintings,
Black Square. In its intention to pay homage to Malevich's operation, "The Word as Non-Objectivity" seeks to circumvent the usual means of sonic
expression-as bearers of their own specific form of realistic representativeness - to the point of reducing instrumental orchestration to something like a "desert in which nothing can be perceived but feeling." The music tries to emerge from an
indistinct, immaterial background, but it doesn't consolidate into structures and forms; on the contrary, it is swallowed up again by
silence and nothingness.
The technical aspects of how this was achieved are of some importance here. In contrast to previous records, and in order to explore new avenues of expression, there are no guitars, vocals, or percussion, leaving room for sounds generated by no-input mixers and devices. These elements interact with the help of a few effects machines to create extended sonic passages in which electronic orchestrations burst into sudden hiccups.
