#SupermanDay part 2 - Nancy, Slinky and I attended the free @superman Day event at the @americanabrand in Glendale today, and in spite of the oppressive sun, it was pretty great! There were free prizes, including tee shirts, hats, movie posters, and @originalfunko pops, as well as free comic books. There were also free non alcoholic drinks and waters. Missing from my photos are the pups that were available for adoption. We got a free hat and free Supergirl theatrical poster, and I couldn’t resist getting Slinky a cape. Thank you @superman@dcofficial@warnerbros for the wonderful event!
#SupermanDay part 1 - Last Tuesday, Nancy and I were invited to preview the #SupermanExperience at the Warner Bros lot ahead of its opening today (yesterday technically? It’s like 1:00am as I post this.) The experience itself is built into a soundstage, with set elements of the Fortress of Solitude at the entrance and exit. The interactive elements are motion based and highly physical, way more so than I expected. It’s fun, don’t get me wrong. Just don’t be surprised if you break a sweat multiple times.
This experience is ideal for families. Die hard Superman fans would enjoy some of the Easter eggs in the Fortress of Solitude area at the end, but wouldn’t be terribly impressed with the gameplay. The animation is, unfortunately, not impressive, but we had fun.
The Superman Experience: Defenders Unite is now available as an add-on to the standard @wbtourhollywood for an additional $23. I’ll link the tickets in my bio. I didn’t get it.
Let me say straight up, I didn’t get Sunday Company. I know a lot of you will be asking. You all know how badly I wanted it. These were my last 2 characters in the final show. I’m very proud of them.
I’m still processing. It’s tough to not get the result you hope for when you’ve been aiming for it for years, throwing blood, sweat, tears, and money at it. You see your friends do it. Even though it looks hard and stressful, you think “that’s it. That’s the thing I want to do.” And you only get one shot. I’m better at the long game. Let me come back and try again. I’ll work even harder and I’ll blow you away.
Unfortunately, that’s not how Groundlings works.
Yes, I know that there are other places to do sketch and improv in LA. I know there are multiple paths to do it and find success.
But Groundlings was the one I wanted. Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not mad at anyone or at the organization. It just stings.
I’m still proud AF of the work I did throughout this program, and in Advanced Writing Lab. I couldn’t have don’t anything better or differently. And I am deeply grateful to my incredible cast mates and to @lyriclewis for believing in me and showing me things about myself that I didn’t realize were there. And thank you to all of you who have supported me and continue to do so. Give me a moment to mourn, then it’s on to the next thing.
