In Their Image is the fifth version of a play I first wrote back in 2016 — it’s been ditched, picked up, and rewritten countless times. It's a story I've wanted to tell for a long time but couldn't seem to make it work. I finally landed on a narrative and structure I was happy with in the final week leading up to the deadline for @wovenvoices I know you’re supposed to trust your work no matter what, but being shortlisted for this one felt like such a reassurance. Onto the next draft ✍️

Here’s a sneak peek of the audiovisual piece “Still Here”.
The project features a complex layering of visual and audio sources, a structure expertly anchored by the work of voiceover actor Jimin Suh (@actorjsuh ).
Her performance acts as the project’s cohesive element, providing context to the multi-layered design and establishing a consistent yet compellingly unplaceable narrative for the piece as a whole.

I'd felt discouraged to go back to dance classes for years and finally went to one, partly because they were teaching the most iconic choreo of one of my favourite artists: Taemin's Move. And what fun I had! No pressure to do well - or not be shite. Kinda surreal to dance to a Korean song as well, having come to the UK when most of people hardly knew anything about South Korea.
(Btw this is so much harder than it looks, the slowness is very deceptive 🥲)
