ICYMI: The Fair Work Commission has moved to abolish junior rates for 18-20 year old workers. 🎉🎉
After tireless work from unions across the country, the Commission has decided to end the discounted rates for younger adult workers. Where previously an 18 year old could get paid a mere 70% of the full rate for the same job as a worker aged over 21, the practise will now begin to be phased out from December.
This is fantastic news for the estimated half a million young workers who will receive a pay rise after this landmark decision. It’s also a great example of union power!
