Marathon & ultra training = Run. Eat. Take Iron. Sleep. Repeat.
But energy is everything. As a pescatarian endurance runner, I’m mindful of my iron intake because lower iron can impact energy (and no one wants flat legs at 30km!!)
Active Iron Advance 25mg is part of my daily routine to support my training!
Strong > depleted.

I would say it’s crazy how many messages I get from girls asking for advice on low iron and irregular menstrual cycles, but it’s not because I was the girl asking these questions a few years ago. It shouldn’t be a taboo topic, and it’s not just part of being a female athlete. Active Iron have been conducting research to help athletes understand how to manage, improve, and maintain iron levels. And since chatting to them, and sharing my own experiences they have kindly given me 20% off Active Iron products using code “ANYA20” AD

Before pregnancy, iron levels often aren’t on your radar, but they should be!
If you’re trying to conceive, checking and optimising your iron intake can make a big difference. Lower iron levels can go unnoticed, so understanding your risk early helps prevent symptoms and supports a healthier pregnancy.
Iron needs rise throughout pregnancy, especially in the third trimester when your baby builds stores to last their first 6 months of life.
Starting early can help maintain levels and may reduce the need for more intensive treatments later, particularly if you’re at higher risk.
💡 The WHO recommends ~30mg of iron daily during pregnancy.

Iron is a super important nutrient during pregnancy, supporting both mum and baby every step of the way.
Not only does iron help transport oxygen around the body, but it also supports energy levels, cognitive function, immune health and red blood cell and haemoglobin formation.
Lower iron levels during pregnancy are very common and can affect both maternal and infant health if left untreated.
Some women may be more at risk of inadequate iron levels during pregnancy, including those who -
• Have closely spaced pregnancies (<1 year apart)
• Are expecting multiples
• Follow a vegetarian or vegan diet
• Are experiencing a teenage pregnancy
• Don’t regularly consume iron-rich foods
• Had heavy menstrual cycles before pregnancy
• Have a recent history of significant blood loss
• Previously experienced low iron levels before pregnancy
However, with the right nutrition, regular monitoring, and supplementation when needed, iron levels can often be supported effectively throughout pregnancy💗

¹Iron contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Iron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin and oxygen transport around the body.
Pregnancy increases your iron needs dramatically. Here's what you need to know💭
As your baby grows, your blood volume can increase by up to 50%, but red blood cells don’t increase at the same rate. This natural haemodilution means your body needs 2–3x more iron during pregnancy.
Yet inadequate iron levels are incredibly common, affecting up to 23% of pregnant women. And while iron-rich foods are important, diet alone often isn’t enough to meet the increased demands of pregnancy.
Lower iron levels can leave you feeling exhausted and depleted, which is why monitoring iron levels and supplementing when needed can make such a difference for both mum & baby✨
Active Iron Pregnancy provides the essential nutrients needed throughout each trimester and includes Active Iron 25mg capsules + a complete time-release multivitamin!

AD | Feeling more drained around that time of the month?
I hear this all the time and many of us just push through it without really understanding why.
As women, we lose iron each month, and over time that can impact our energy.
The key isn’t just taking iron… it’s being able to stay consistent with it.
That’s why I like Active Iron, it’s gentle on the stomach and easier to take regularly.
Because when it comes to your energy, consistency really matters.
Can you relate?

Did you know the difference between adenomyosis & endometriosis?💭
Adenomyosis - tissue grows within the uterus wall.
Endometriosis - tissue grows outside the uterus.
Both adenomyosis and endometriosis can negatively impact the daily lives of many women. It is crucial to keep the conversation going and break down the stigma surrounding them💛
