Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Thursday Today we’re helping children realise something important… They already have tools that can help them feel better. Ask your child: ✨ What helps you when you feel worried or upset? It might be: 🌬 Taking slow breaths 🎨 Colouring quietly 🤸 Moving their body 🎧 Listening to music 🤝 Talking to someone There’s no right or wrong answer. When children recognise what helps them, they begin to feel more confident and in control 💛 Small tools. Big difference.

Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Week 2 – Friday Today’s focus is quiet confidence. Children are reminded that confidence doesn’t have to be loud or perfect. It can be small, calm, and steady. Simple thoughts like: “I can try” “I don’t have to be perfect” “I am doing my best” help children feel more secure and supported in themselves. These small messages, repeated gently, help build confidence over time in school, at home, and beyond 💛

Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Week 2 – Thursday Today we’re talking about feelings. Children are learning that feelings don’t last forever. Just like the weather, emotions can change sunny, cloudy, rainy, or stormy and all of them are okay. This activity helps children notice how they feel without pressure to change it, and gently reminds them that tough feelings will pass. It’s a simple but reassuring message that builds understanding, patience, and quiet confidence at home and in school 💛

TUESDAY – Noticing Feelings Focus: “I can notice how I feel” What children do: • Colour a simple face or shape • Choose a colour for how they feel today • No explaining needed Child language: “There’s no right or wrong feeling.” Parent/Teacher post wording: Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Week 2 – Day 1 This week we’re helping children notice and understand their feelings in a gentle way. Today’s activity invites children to pause and notice how they feel, using colour instead of words. There’s no need to explain or change anything. Noticing feelings helps children understand that emotions come and go 💛

Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Sunday Calm Today we’re focusing on positive mindset and calm breathing. Children are encouraged to practise belly breathing — placing a hand on their tummy and taking slow, steady breaths in and out to help their bodies feel calm and safe. You can support this by watching a short Belly Breathing for Children video on YouTube together: 👉 Link in BIO Alongside breathing, encourage children to repeat kind, reassuring words such as: “I am calm” “I can do it” “I am loved” These simple tools can be used at home or in school, especially during quiet moments or when children need a little extra reassurance. A calm Sunday helps children feel settled and ready for the week ahead 💛

Saturday Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Day Three Weekends are a great time to slow things down. Today’s focus is on helping children relax their bodies through small, gentle activities, colouring, resting quietly, slow breathing, or moving slowly like a tortoise. There’s no pressure to do everything.
Even a few calm minutes can help children feel settled, safe, and more at ease. These simple moments remind children that it’s okay to go slow and take breaks when they need them 💛

Day Two: Small Calm Activities Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Day Two This afternoon we’re sharing a few small calm activities children can use anytime they need a little reset. These gentle moments, colouring, quiet time, slow breathing, help children slow their bodies down and clear their minds without pressure or expectation. Day Two: Finding Calm How was yesterday for you.? Active Body Active Mind 💛 | Day Two Today we’re helping children learn how to find calm when their body feels busy or jumpy. Children are guided to imagine a calm, safe place, somewhere that helps their body relax and feel settled.
It might be a cosy space, a favourite place, or somewhere they feel comfortable and secure. This simple activity supports children to pause, breathe, and feel safe in their bodies, a skill they can use at school or at home. Sometimes, just slowing things down is enough 💛 Part 1 of 2 for today.

Active Body Active Mind 💛 | The Calm Trick When children feel overwhelmed, their bodies often react first, fast breathing, fidgeting, tight shoulders, or tears. This week we’re sharing a simple calm trick that helps children slow their bodies down and feel more in control. 🖐️ 5-Finger Breathing
Children trace their hand while breathing slowly in and out.
It’s easy, discreet, and can be used anywhere, in the classroom, at home, or before bed. Over the next few weeks, we’ll continue to share gentle, child-friendly tools to support calm bodies and confident minds. 👉 Follow and tag our page

Today I had the pleasure of working with 5th class on developing their fundamental movement skills, with a focus on hand–eye coordination. At this age (around 10 years old), children are at such an important stage of growth where activities like this can really help sharpen their skills, boost confidence, and encourage teamwork. We played a fun and very simple game called “Bomb Disposal Unit” 💣🎈. The rules are easy: • Split into two groups (in this case, boys vs girls). • The “bomb” is simply a balloon. • The challenge is to move the balloon from one end of the hall to the other without letting it touch the ground. It sounds easy, but it takes quick reactions, good communication, and teamwork to succeed. The children had to constantly adjust, support each other, and find ways of working together to complete the task. What I love about this game is how cheap and accessible it is – all you need is a balloon and some space. Yet the benefits are huge: ✅ Builds hand–eye coordination ✅ Encourages teamwork and cooperation ✅ Promotes spatial awareness ✅ Brings plenty of energy, laughter, and excitement into the session By disguising skill development within a fun game, the children don’t even realise how much they’re learning. For 10-year-olds, this balance of challenge and fun is key to keeping them engaged while helping them grow.
