@clout_sadesign celebrates the vision and vitality of SA design we’re a bridge that connects SA designers and makers with local and global commercial opportunities.
Clout/SA has grown over 12 years into one of South Africa’s most influential design platforms. Through strong partnerships with designers, crafters and makers, we understand creative language, support commercial needs, and navigate industry challenges. This showcase features work by 30+ designers, with over 70 represented on our platform, where licensed patterns generate passive income. Rooted in Ubuntu, the collection highlights a new generation of creators using craft, identity and culture to shape socially responsive design. Clout/SA, founded within the Nando’s business, champions South African creativity through initiatives like Portal to Africa and the Nando’s Hot Young Designer competition, which has nurtured emerging talent for a decade.
We are passionate about South African design: its creativity, its craft, and its power to shape how the world sees us. Our vision is for the industry to emerge as a distinct global design brand that combines the country’s legacy of craft, heritage, and storytelling with contemporary making techniques. By supporting these values, we ensure that investment flows into local creative and maker communities.
As a business curating South African design, we prioritise lighting and furniture from makers committed to sustainability and zero waste. We work with companies like Modern Gesture and Pedersen and Lennard, who repurpose offcuts, and Wiid Design, which uses sustainably grown cork. Designers such as Mash T celebrate traditional craft, while Ashanti Design upcycles textile waste into woven lighting. We champion ethical, small-scale South African makers focused on innovation, skills development, and excellence.
