Funny how one word can stop you in your tracks.
Many of you knew Patty Kelly. She was generous and determined. Diagnosed with Follicular Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma 18 years ago, she didn't slow down for a second. She ran races, hiked trails, skied icy Minnesota slopes, and raised boatloads of money for Blood Cancer United — all while managing her own illness. She inspired 13 years of my own Team In Training journey, and some of my dearest friendships.
This past August, we lost Patty to glioblastoma. And I'm still not over it.
But here's what I know: the research she helped fund matters. Rituxan has given three people I know and love more time. More Tuesday dinners. More birthdays. More ordinary, precious time.
So now it's my turn to pay it forward.
I'm running a 10-week campaign with Team: Granting Life to raise $150,000 and establish the Patty Kelly Research Grant through Blood Cancer United. Every dollar funds the next breakthrough — the one that gives someone else a boring scan.

Since 2015, acowsay has been proud to support @BloodCancerUnited (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) by donating films that share the powerful stories of Visionary of the Year candidates.
Last night, Tyler and our team were honored for that work, and we're SO PROUD to share that fifteen stories later, those voices have helped raise over $1.7 million for the fight to end blood cancer.
