We are thrilled to have these two visionary directors joining our community this fall. Their bold, rigorous, and heart-forward practices embody the spirit of what it means to be a Tartan and a Wells Fellow. Welcome home, Aurelia and Cody. Auntie Karen. It hurts so much to say she's gone. It's hard to believe at times. She was the most generous person I knew. Her kindness and her care for others set an example of how to love. All my friends called her Auntie Karen. A light, a joy, and a guiding compass who was always in your corner -- fighting for justice, for equity, for the right to just live life! Her wisdom and advice without fail stood the test of time. I already miss our shenanigans and our late night conversations. I will miss her always and hope to be reunited with her one day. Her gifts resonate to this day. Her laugh does too. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that folks answer letters and send Christmas gifts to children and families via USPS Operation Santa - a mission that was near and dear to Karen's heart.

Tonight, a group of people in person and online said goodbye to Sam Poretta. This image makes me think of Sam because of the whirling dervish, but also, the skirt looks like an ultrasound... like a gift born of devotion and mystery. Thank you Sam for the time you spent here on earth, and the gifts you so generously gave to each person you encountered. May we raise them up. May they multiply.
