🔔 UPDATE: May 11th, 2026, SF 3699 (also known as “Protected Spaces, Visible Faces”) passed the MN State Senate.
This states that every Minnesotan child should have the right to attend K-12 public school. It also includes that ICE agents are barred from entry to churches, schools, hospitals and courthouses without a proper warrant. Another major component of the bill requires ICE/Federal agents to have their faces visible.
➡️ Hear Greg King, member of the North Star Alliance (NSA), share how SF 3699 could impact the people around him, the community he serves, and why this issue matters deeply to him.
➡️ While the 2026 Minnesota legislative session is nearing its end, Future of Us remains committed to working alongside the NSA to amplify the voices of immigrant communities and advocate for policies that protect, support, and uplift our immigrant neighbors who call Minnesota home.
In our case Tincher v. Mullen, community members are challenging the constitutional abuses they suffered at the hands of federal immigration enforcement agents during Operation Metro Surge. Now, the federal government wants the case dismissed.
The Constitution doesn't just disappear when the federal government arrives. The First and Fourth Amendment still apply.

We need community members to pack the room with us and show legislators we’re serious about replacing our wealth-based system with one that detains or releases people based on their measured risk to the community, not how much money they have.

We've filed claims under the Federal Tort Claims Act for U.S. citizens, immigrants who were abused and detained after being racially profiled and targeted for enforcement, and observers who were abused while documenting I.C.E. activities.
When federal immigration agents – as part of their duties – abuse, abduct, and detain our neighbors without regard for their safety or well-being, there must be a legal remedy for people who are harmed.
We will hold this administration accountable.
Congress is renewing its effort to drastically increase DHS funding without any meaningful accountability.

Last week, a federal appeals court sided with Minnesota and left in place a policy allowing transgender students to play sports on teams that align with their gender identity and expression.
The challenge to the policy was brought by a private, Texas-based group that sought to roll back Minnesota's protections for transgender student athletes.
Here's ACLU-MN Staff Attorney Catherine Ahlin-Halverson: "The court was clear: the president's executive orders attacking transgender people do not overturn Minnesota law protecting their rights. We are gratified that Minnesota students continue to have the right to participate in school activities without facing discrimination or exclusion based on gender identity."
