๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ to do before adjusting clickers ๐ช
- Setting sag is very important to fine tune the balance of your bike so it handles correctly. The sag on a bike affects how much the shocks compress when youโre sitting on the bike and when the bike is sitting on the ground by itself. Keep in mind that although there is a recommended range for sag, itโs up to you as the rider to set what feels right to you within that range for the type of riding you do.
- Bleeding air out of forks is easy to forget. The buildup of air inside can cause forks to feel harsh and top out a lot when riding. Try bleeding your forks as often as possible, we recommend bleeding them before every day out riding to get the best out of your suspension. Remember that even on air forks both legs need the outer cartridge bleeding.
- Tyre condition is a big factor when it comes to suspension. If your wheels aren't getting traction to the ground the bike will never be able to handle correctly. Always try to keep a decent tyre on for important events.
- Tyre pressure / Mousse condition is also important when it comes to suspension. If tyres are too hard, itโs going to spin up on acceleration and deflect off bumps/objects causing an uncomfortable feeling. If tyre pressures are too soft then you can get an unstable feeling when cornering and find tyre roll on acceleration. Also be careful if running low pressures as youโll start to find your rims take a beating! Usually for MX type going we would run 10-14PSI.
- Getting the correct springs for the rider's weight and getting it setup/re-valved is a good starting point before you start playing with your clickers. If you check your sag and the measurements are out then thereโs a good chance you need different springs to suit your weight. Having your suspension correctly set up to suit you as a rider and the type of riding you are doing is a must. From here you can then start to fine tune with the clickers to find the sweet spots.
