I was gonna edit this video. But once I finally found a clip i enjoyed, I had almost the entire video left. So I’ll just drop the whole thing 💁♀️. more importantly it’s yet another full circle moment [STORY TIME:]
BAD-E was my first ever country swing convention and is where I realized that as ok a dancer I was at the bars, there are levels to this game and I need to start paying attention if I wanna get better. Took a music theory class that basically taught me how to count beats to know the right times to dip, which I actively started doing in every dance ever since. At the Saturday social, I asked this one to dance with me to help me test my new counting skill. I counted 5,6,7,8 and went for a sit dip… only to realize I went a few counts too early. Feeling a bit frustrated, I audibly said “dammit I missed it again!” At which point Omega says “don’t worry boy, I gotchu!” And proceeds to do one of the sickest drops ever, right at the phrase change 🥹 from that point on, I was so hyped from that moment that all I could think was “yo this dance thing is COOL,” and that’s when i officially made the decision to improve in country swing. And I owe it all to this woman. Fast forward to this past Sunday and I know I’ve gotten better since then, so I wanted a dance with omega to let her know that I can keep up now. And while this dance wasn’t perfect, it was fun; which was the whole point of picking up swing in the first place. Have FUN and SMILE. That’s the mindset I’ll be taking with me into Nashville tomorrow. 🎉
