Last night we travelled all the way from Birminghamshire to Leicester for the brilliant Some-Antics Open Mic and Slam, and what a night it was! 🔥🎤
The performances were incredible, the atmosphere was electric, the talent on stage was outstanding, and the whole evening was full of energy, creativity and proper spoken word magic. Massive shout out to the guest DJ too (missed you Ninja Bob), keeping the vibes flowing all night and adding even more sparkle to an already fantastic evening. 🎧✨
Huge congratulations to Abby Jinks for winning the slam 👏🏆 and a massive shout out to Rob, who did us proud stepping into the slam and representing brilliantly.
Some-Antics is always one of those nights that leaves you inspired, buzzing and already looking forward to the next one. Thanks to everyone involved for another unforgettable evening! ❤️

🌊🦘 Poetry Prompt: Shoreline Solitude
A lone kangaroo stands where the sea kisses the sand — a meeting of wild earth and restless water. Write a poem that captures this unexpected moment. Is it a traveller between worlds? A guardian of the tide? Or a reflection of your own stillness in a moving world?
Let the rhythm of the waves shape your lines. Explore themes of belonging, distance, nature, and quiet resilience. Use sensory detail — the hush of the surf, the warmth of sand, the salt in the air — and allow your poem to wander freely between land and sea.
✨ Bonus: Write in free verse and include one line that feels like a whispered thought.

Introducing the 2nd stunning poem produced at our "Writing Ourselves into the World" workshop, by L.E. WYNN.
The workshop took place on Sunday 19th of April at Script Haven in Worcester.
The poems shared were phenomenal and we are thrilled that some of the poets have kindly allowed us to share their work with you.
We know you'll agree that L.E. WYNN is a fantastic poet and this piece is crafted beautifully.
Not long now until our Power of Women workshops which are taking place throughout June.
You do not need to attend every session, and you do not need to be a writer. This will be a space where we will explore amazing stories of women who have shaped history.

Poetry Prompt 🌿
A lone bird rests upon the quiet grass,
feathers catching sunlight like whispered secrets.
Is it pausing… or hiding? Healing… or dreaming?
Write a poem about stillness —
the kind that isn’t empty, but full.
Explore what it means to be seen in rest,
to exist without performance,
to simply be in a world that rarely slows down.
Let nature mirror your inner voice.
Let softness be strength.

This seal has found the art of resting without apology.
Write a poem about what it means to feel completely at ease in your own skin.

✨ peace after chaos
✨ the freedom of taking up space
✨ joy that asks permission from no one
✨ becoming still enough to hear yourself breathe
What happens when you stop trying to be anything other than yourself?

✨ Rethinking Ability Workshop – Thank You ✨
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Rethinking Ability poetry workshop — what a beautiful session it was.
We had such a lovely group, and it was clear how much everyone genuinely enjoyed the space. The creativity, honesty, and openness in the room made it really special. 🧡
From thoughtful reflections to powerful writing, it was amazing to see people connect, share (in whatever way felt right), and take time for themselves through creativity.
We’re so grateful to have held this in collaboration with AGEM, and to have raised funds for Midland Mencap, supporting the important work they do in our community.
This is exactly why we do what we do at AccessAbility Arts — creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where people can simply be themselves and create without pressure.
Thank you again to everyone who came along — we hope you left feeling a little lighter and more connected.
More workshops coming soon ✨
