💫 Our annual Urban Spirit Foundation golf tournament fundraiser is coming up on July 16th, and this year we have a way for everyone in BC to support the cause! @rafflenexus will be executing an amazing raffle drone, where BC residents, in B.C when purchasing their ticket, can buy golf ball entries...even if they are not attending the tournament. ⛳ On the day of the tournament, the golf balls will be dropped from the sky by an impressive 7 by 7 foot drone, which may be the first time this is being done in BC! Balls closest to the hole will win prizes, including flights and hotel stays, casino stay packages, a Napoleon Prestige BBQ, and cash as a part of our 50/50 draw! Your support will provide opportunities for Urban Indigenous Peoples on their journey to success through education and training, secondary and post-secondary scholarships. See more information here on how to buy your golf ball tickets! #indigenouseducation #raffle #indigenousfundraising #charitygolftournament #indigenousemployment

🚢We are grateful to @seaspanulc for welcoming Indigenous youth this week, as a part of our Youth Leadership Hub Welding Camp! Our group explored multiple facilities, saw exciting work in action, and explored an impressive ship that is under construction—the second longest ship of its kind produced in Canada! Youth had the opportunity to experience a ‘behind the scenes’ look at how the work comes together from start to finish. 👏 This was exciting and inspiring for all. 🙏 #indigenousyouth #indigenouseducation

⭐️We love hearing and sharing the success stories of the graduates we support at ACCESS. Foster graduated in 2019 from the Bridge Watch Program at the @bcit Marine Campus. Since then, he has been supported by ACCESS for additional certifications, including Navigation Safety, Chartwork, and Pilotage Level 2. Here are some words from Foster: “Hi, my name is Foster. I’m 30 years old, and I’ve been working in the marine industry for 11 years as a deckhand in the fishing and tugboat industries. Over the past year, ACCESS has helped me accomplish my goal of obtaining my 150 GT Master’s ticket and beginning my journey toward working in a captain’s position. I’m extremely grateful for the support and assistance I’ve received along the way. ACCESS has been very supportive and made this journey possible for me.” Congratulations, Foster! We are incredibly proud of the work you have done and achivements you have accomplished. 👏 We currently have a Bridge Watch Program running in partnership with @bcit . #indigenouseducation #indigenousemployment #indigenoustraining #greatervancouver

Our ‘Youth Leadership Hub’ Welding Camp is coming up in May, in partnership with @bcit and Vancouver School Board, funded through @seaspanulc ⭐️ The Welding Camp will be a hands-on skill-building program introducing high school youth to the fundamentals of welding and metalwork in a supportive and engaging environment. Throughout the camp, youth will gain confidence using industry-standard equipment, will complete small creative projects, explore potential career paths, and even get to tour Seaspan’s Shipyards. The program builds technical skills and fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and pride in craftsmanship, empowering youth to see themselves as capable creators and future tradespeople. 🙌 #indigenousyouth #indigenouseducation

From day one in the electrical program with ACCESS in 2020, Daniel Pavlic set out to build a career that would support his family and create long-term opportunities. Proudly from the @musqueamband Nation, Daniel discovered a passion for problem-solving and hands-on work through the electrical trade. 💡 What started as a new opportunity turned into a journey all the way to Red Seal Certification, with ACCESS supporting him every step of the way. Daniel’s advice for anyone considering the trades: “If I could go back, I would start my journey in the trades sooner. Trust yourself and your ability to learn. You will make it through. You just need to start.” Stories like Daniel’s show how determination, support, and opportunity can lead to lasting success in the skilled trades. ⚡ Congratulations, Daniel, on achieving your Red Seal certification! 🎉 #indigenouseducation #indigenousemployment #greatervancouver

This is a special photo from our recent Honouring Dinner. 🪶 Our Director of Trades, Helen Boyce is joined by Richard Yoo, the first trades instructor we ever had, a Red Seal Pipe Fitter, and an instructor at @bcit To Richard’s right is Ryan Belong, a Red Seal Plumber and one of Helen’s early apprentices. Ryan now owns his own business, redmechanical Plumbing. On the left is Carey Speck, a Red Seal Plumber and an apprentice advisor for ACCESS. 🛠️We are proud of our trades department, and it was a wonderful moment to have this group together at our event! #trades #tradestraining #indigenouseducation #indigenousemployment
