My abuela was with me my very first day of life, and I was with her on her very last. I am honored and grateful to come from generations of strong, loving, beautiful women like my abuela. She moved from Mexico to Kansas to raise me while my mom went back to work, nearly all of my childhood memories include her. How lucky am I? As her memory began to fade when I got older, I grieved and still do grieve the loss of a more developed relationship with her. I wish she could have given me more of her wisdom and advice as I grew into an adult. But the wisdom and the memories I do have, I will hold onto forever. Abuela was a phenomenal woman. She was a gifted teacher who loved children, she was playful, she was a talented cook, and she always came through for her family. What she means to me is impossible to put into words.
I am so thankful for the hope we have in Jesus. I know no peace aside from Him. I look forward to the day I experience what Abuela is experiencing right now.
Gracias por todos tus sacrificios abuela. Te amo y por siempre te amaré.
No words to describe what these pictures of Abuela, her house, and her neighborhood mean to me. During my recent trip to Mexico my Abuela’s house was filled with her daughters, grandkids, and siblings for the first time in years as it was rented out once she could no longer live alone. God answered my deepest prayers as He strung together miracle after miracle for us to have incredible quality time with my Abuela, sharpened her mind, and allowed her to be truly present. The details are complex and probably kept the most precious in the safety of my journals and closest relationships, but the larger picture is all too meaningful to not share. I should note that Abuela is doing very well, thanks be to God! :)
Some bonus pics from our rehearsal dinner that I never shared! Carson’s parents planned the most beautiful and magical evening in their backyard to celebrate us the night before the wedding with toasts, tacos, and lots of tears :,)
Celebrated one year of marriage with Carson this past weekend! It’s been the happiest year filled with newness, excitement, and growth. The best thing about being married to Carson is seeing who he is when no one else is watching. I see God’s goodness and mercy shine through him and our covenant more and more each day. Thank you Jesus!
