Goodness.....how fast time flies! I found this relic! It is the project that I did for @emanuelungaroparis (NYC diffusion) to get my very first asst designer position. As a new Parsons graduate that was at the top of my class, I seriously thought I'd get a job @ a Seventh Avenue designer runway house. I'd also interned with @tracy_reese , @donnakaranthewoman and @themarcjacobs@marcjacobs at @perryellis . It didn't materialize. I honestly felt passed over & jilted. Even typing this, I feel twinges of the pain I felt 30 years ago. Real talk: It was heartbreaking to see less talented peers get the jobs I knew I deserved. But I got a great job that I loved. I was involved w/every area of the company: I sketched; attended fittings; work closely with PR/sales/production; I got to travel to Paris & China for the first times ever in my life. I learned how to work & how to think in the professional fashion world. I met & worked with friends that I cherish to this day. I was given an amazing foundation to build a career on. I still employ much of the knowledge I learned from my 2 bosses & the amazing woman who headed our product development. They were generous with their knowledge and experience. I am glad that I embraced what I had at the moment because it was one of the most enriching experiences of my life.

My very first job was working for his US diffusion line. His was one of the first runway shows I ever saw live in Paris. I had always wanted to design for his couture and RTW lines. He was a huge inspiration. Godspeed, Monsieur.
