Officially a sprint triathlete 🏊♀️🚴🏼♀️🏃♀️
Here's my Panglao Sunrise Sprint race report that no one asked for:
Swim: Mostly shallow and full of sea urchins especially at the 200-500m mark. Did an easy pace to conserve energy and walked slowly through the final shallow stretch because hadlok makatunob og tuyom.
T1: Longest transition of my life 😭 Spent 6 mins because our transition area is 0.62 km away and I can't fully run barefoot.
Bike: Mostly flat course. Brave of me to wear cleats only for the second time on a highway. I'm also glad wa ko natumba pag unclip. Thankfully, no mechanical issues. Just a skill issue 😂
T2: I spent 4 mins, contrary to my target 2 mins transition. I never practiced it so this explains my slow transitions 😂 I also bravely took a GU Energy Gel for the first time, glad my stomach isn't sensitive and I was able to use this as a boost for my weakest leg—the run.
Run: This is my most undertrained leg 😭 I only ran 5 times since April, three of which are only 1 km lol. I only did one 4km last June and one 5km the week before 😂 Nevertheless, my average pace was only around 7:33/km. Surprisingly, I didn't feel the so-called "brick legs" even though I didn't have enough brick training sessions. The cold splash zones and the gel I took in T2 gave me enough boost to maintain my usual pace. However, during the last 1.5km, I felt a side stitch and thankfully nawala ra after a few minutes. Promise, balik nako dagan because I can def feel the consequences of me running away from running.
Even with an inconsistent training, I finished it within my expected time. I told myself that if I complete my first sprint tri under 2 hours, I'll buy myself a new bike. See you soon, my new road bike 😛🚴🏼♀️ Tigoman sa 😂
Panglao, Bohol is definitely one of the best triathlon courses in the Philippines, perfect for beginners. Glad me and
@huxli_ chose this as our first tri. Also, vv much recommended to stay in the host hotel—Bellevue Resort—bc soafer sore na after the race and we wanna rest as soon as we finished. The pre- and post-race buffet is the cherry on top 🍒 See you next year, Panglao! 🏝️ Race photos to follow ➡️
