Reclaimed Reads.
Some books get thrown away.
Some get forgotten.
Some just wait for the right person to find them again.
We spend countless hours sourcing BLK history, culturally significant stories, and overlooked gems so these books can continue living through new readers.
Tonight reminded me why this matters so much. I truly love helping people find books they care about.

BLK Thoughts: A Prologue
Growing up, the odds weren’t in my favor. Statistically, I had every reason not to succeed. As a Black male born on the east side of Cleveland, the numbers would suggest I was more likely to encounter the justice system than step foot in a college classroom. But that’s not my story.
Statistics didn’t account for the angels on my side. I was guided and protected in ways that can’t be measured. I had teachers and friends who saw promise in me, a grandmother and aunt who kept me focused, an uncle who reminded me I was meant for more, a sister that made sure I was covered, and parents who did the best they could despite mental, economic, and environmental hardships. The fabric of my story has been intricately woven and held together by the prayers of those who love me most.
I’m blessed. As I step into this next chapter, I’ve found solace in the idea of doing the work. With altruism at the forefront, I want to make a difference in a way that’s true to who I am.
I’m excited to announce the launch of my first business—one born from my love of reading and inspired by the husky kid from Miles who found escape in books. I’m building a bookshop. Correction: not just my bookshop, but a space for those who find beauty in their identity.
I’m proud to introduce aBLKthing Books, an experiential bookshop and a community of readers. I can’t wait to bring creative ideas to life and engage with readers in new and meaningful ways.
