Play Your Favorite One takes record albums passed down from our parents (plus some new ones we bought along the way) and turns them into an invitation to engage.
By highlighting words in Moby’s “Play”, Michael Franti’s “Follow Your Heart”, John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things” and David Bowie’s “One”, we encourage the viewer to choose an album from the wall and give it a spin.
You could almost miss this small piece of white art on a white wall. That’s intentional. But when it does catch your eye and you lean in, you realize it’s talking directly to you.

This found “art” was a discovery made on our property in the North Fork while doing some planting out in the yard. It was all folded up and buried about a foot down and obviously caked in dirt and rust. We flattened it out and did some clean up and were curious enough to do a little digging into who Jacob Ruppert was. The back story made it feel worth preserving.
Jacob Ruppert Jr. (August 5, 1867 – January 13, 1939) was an American brewer, businessman, National Guard colonel and politician who served for four terms representing New York in the United States House of Representatives from 1899 to 1907. He also owned the New York Yankees from 1915 until his death in 1939. While he was the owner of the Yankees, he purchased the contract of Babe Ruth and built Yankee Stadium.
The Jacob Ruppert Brewing Company was a prominent New York City brewery that operated from 1867 to 1965.

We wanted something to help break up the large space and empty white wall of the kitchen/dining/living room.
The banquet we chose helps define the kitchen and dining area. But felt like we needed something else to soften the space and add warmth.
I built a simple oak slat trellis that the Monstera will grow up over time, making it an evolving art piece in a way. The hanging grow light keeps the plants happy and adds a bit of visual impact. Special thanks to @moosala for the table saw loan! #plantwall #stpeteartist

HERE IS GOOD. It really is. This present moment. This present place. (Hopefully!) Sometimes though, we all need a little reminder. This piece is meant to make you stop and recognize, even if just for a passing second, that right here and right now is pretty good.
We love the idea that something hanging on a wall can actually shift your frame of mind. It’s like those 80s motivational posters but art. And without kittens encouraging you to “hang in there.”
We’re currently experimenting with the technique for a potential series.

A set of custom floating nightstands.
With only 8 inches between the bed and door frame, the nightstands had to fit the small space and actually provide storage.
