We are happy to present to you sparks, our first article originally written in Spanish!
⚡ Sparks traces a 24 hour cycle through highly anthropized submarine zones from Barcelona to Badalona.
These areas are home to electric rays, Torpedo torpedo 🌊, who live and persist there despite the noise, pollution, maritime traffic, and toxic discharge. How come they hold on while other ray species disappear?
Sparks, a layer of the broader project "ruido ê", uses footage obtained through nocturnal diving and experimental "body-camera" filming modes. As you dive in, it tells a story about the agency of these electric rays — and how, through their inhabited worlds, we can trace urban and historical assemblages around vulnerability, perception, and resistance, both human and non-human.
