do you ever hear a song your parents love and it resonates a feeling that transcends time, listening to it as if you were predestined to share the same feelings as well. memories that aren’t yours flood your prefrontal lobe and then your retinas, colours you have not seen, places you’ve not been before. brain overclocking at the emulation of a time before you. stress not, lil dude, for the music is all you’ve ever needed.
Excited to share this special project I had the opportunity to work on with @monzo for their Black History Month celebrations! 🎨✊🏾
I created a series of illustrations showcasing the diversity and individuality of the Black diaspora, using bold, character-driven designs to bring this vision to life. 🙌🏾🖤
These designs were used for internal merch at the company with all the proceeds going to black charities.

“1er gaou and fruity loops”

been thinking about the music i make and the influences and experiences ive had that have led me to where i am today; one of my earliest memories of african music is listening to premier gaou at a party and later registering it (as i got older) as the beacon party song for the african diaspora. i often wonder how the music i get subjected to an early age is stored in the spontaneous archive that is my brain & how things suddenly get remembered and pulled to forefront when my making my own music? anyways stream “come on - abiiogenesis” for context (also i’ll occasionally be posting “art” and other stuff on here cos i realise i gatekeep my own work)
