Today, we brought together Commonwealth accredited organisations for an update meeting on the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Discussions covered preparations for #CHOGM2026 as well as plans and opportunities to collaborate more closely on: • The Commonwealth Business, People’s, Women’s and Youth Forums • Official side events on sport, democracy, health and the blue economy @abchogm2026 will take place from 1-4 November 2026 in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. Heads of government, ministers and representatives from business, civil society and youth organisations will gather to discuss shared priorities such as climate change, trade, innovation and sustainable development.

Sir Vivian Richards Represents Antigua and Barbuda at Commonwealth Day Celebrations in London 🇦🇬 Cricket legend and national hero Sir Vivian Richards proudly represented Antigua and Barbuda at the 2026 Commonwealth Day celebrations in London, participating in a series of prestigious events highlighting the country’s role as host of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026. Commonwealth Day brought together leaders and representatives from the 56 member states to celebrate shared values of cooperation, democracy, and development. Events included the ceremonial flag-raising at the UK Parliament, a wreath-laying at Memorial Gates in Hyde Park, the multi-faith service at Westminster Abbey, and a reception at St James’s Palace hosted by the Commonwealth Secretary-General. As Official Envoy for CHOGM 2026, Sir Vivian engaged with Commonwealth officials, diplomats, and international media, helping to spotlight Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations to welcome leaders from across the Commonwealth from November 1–4, 2026. Reflecting on the occasion, Sir Vivian noted: “The Commonwealth represents a family of nations united by shared values, history, and opportunity. It is an honour to represent Antigua and Barbuda as we prepare to welcome the world for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.” The visit was coordinated by the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London, with valued support from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA). Antigua and Barbuda High Commission Hosts Heritage Evening in London 🇦🇬 The Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London recently hosted a special Heritage Evening, bringing together members of the Antiguan and Barbudan diaspora, Commonwealth representatives, and distinguished guests to celebrate the nation’s rich culture, history, and enduring connections with the United Kingdom. The evening was expertly hosted by Mikaela Benjamin, a young marketing professional of Antiguan and Barbudan heritage. Guests were welcomed with a vibrant steelpan performance by Harry Hughes Steelpan, followed by the national anthems of Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdom performed by Braimah Kanneh-Mason, and prayers by Reverend Katei Kirby. In her welcome remarks, H.E. Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner, highlighted the strong relationship between Antigua and Barbuda and the UK and recognized the vital role of the diaspora in strengthening those ties. Greetings were also delivered by Lyndia Bowers, President of the Antigua and Barbuda National Association in London. Remarks were shared by His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda, and Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, both emphasizing the importance of preserving national heritage and maintaining strong diaspora connections. The programme also featured remarks from Sir Vivian Richards, CHOGM 2026 Envoy, and Dr. Arjoon Suddhoo, Deputy Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Secretariat, highlighting the role of culture and people-to-people connections in strengthening the Commonwealth community. Guests enjoyed a musical performance by Laurent John and special presentations by Denize Leadeatte, Director of the National Windrush Museum, on “The Antigua and Barbuda Windrush Story,” and Dr. Gabriella Howell MBE, Director of Historic Preservation at the Heritage Trust Antigua and Barbuda Inc., on the restoration of Government House. Foreign Minister Greene Meets with India’s External Affairs Minister to Advance CHOGM 2026 Cooperation Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. E.P. Chet Greene met with Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs, on the margins of the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting in London. The bilateral discussion focused on strengthening ties between Antigua and Barbuda and India and advancing cooperation ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, which Antigua and Barbuda will host from November 1–4, 2026 in St. John’s. Minister Greene expressed appreciation for India’s strong partnership with Small Island Developing States, while outlining priority areas of support for CHOGM preparations. These include maritime security cooperation, mobility support through motorcycles for security operations, and technical assistance with audiovisual systems to ensure world-class conference facilities for visiting Heads of Government. Both Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in security, technology, and capacity building, and agreed to maintain close technical coordination in the lead-up to CHOGM 2026. Minister Greene also welcomed India’s continued engagement within the Commonwealth of Nations, expressing confidence that the partnership will help ensure a successful hosting of CHOGM in Antigua and Barbuda. Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in 12th UK–Caribbean Ministerial Forum  The Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, represented Antigua and Barbuda at the Twelfth UK–Caribbean Ministerial Forum held in London on 10 March 2026.  The Forum brought together Foreign Ministers and senior officials from across the Caribbean and the United Kingdom to review progress in the UK–Caribbean partnership and discuss key issues including climate change, security cooperation, economic development, and regional resilience.  During the discussions, Minister Greene emphasized the importance of strengthening trade and services between the Caribbean and the UK, while also highlighting the significance of Citizenship by Investment programmes to regional economies. He further underscored the urgent need for greater global ambition on climate action and improved access to climate finance for Small Island Developing States.  Minister Greene also called for enhanced cooperation in disaster preparedness and resilience, noting the increasing severity of climate-related events affecting the Caribbean and the need for stronger partnerships to support early warning systems and emergency response capacity. He was accompanied by Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner; Ms. Chantal Phillip, Minister Counsellor; and Mr. Brent Scotland, Second Secretary of the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission. 🌍🤝

Today we had the incredible honour of welcoming none other than ‘The Master Blaster’ Sir Vivian Richards to school! 🏏 Sir Vivian is widely celebrated as one of the greatest cricketers of all time. With over 15,000 international runs, 35 centuries and an astonishing 36,000 First-Class runs (all achieved without ever wearing a helmet) he remains an icon of extraordinary skill, flair and sporting excellence. His leadership and impact on the global game continue to inspire millions. Foreign Minister Greene Meets with Cyprus’ Special Envoy for Multilateralism The Honourable E.P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Andreas Kakouris, Ambassador and Special Envoy for Multilateralism for the Republic of Cyprus, on 10 March. Minister Greene reaffirmed the strong and longstanding friendship between Antigua and Barbuda and Cyprus, noting the shared commitment of both countries to multilateral cooperation, international law, and sustainable development. During the meeting, Minister Greene extended best wishes to Ambassador Kakouris on his candidature for the Presidency of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (2026–2027), emphasizing the importance of strong multilateral leadership to advance the priorities of small and vulnerable states, particularly in areas such as climate action and sustainable development. Discussions also focused on Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from 1–4 November 2026 in St. John’s. Minister Greene highlighted plans for a high-level side event on Blue Finance and Innovation, which will explore opportunities for sustainable ocean development, marine conservation, renewable ocean energy, and investment in the blue economy.
