The ABC No Rio Visual Arts Collective introduces our next art exhibition: 'Art-Work: Balance'.
Exploring the often invisible tension between creative practice and the jobs artists take on to support their practice, the exhibition reveals how labor outside the studio—whether inspiring, exhausting, or intrusive—shapes the artist's identity, process, and output. Featuring artwork across a variety of mediums, the works do not directly depict these jobs but instead respond to the lived reality of navigating survival and self-expression. The audience is invited to consider the cost, resilience, and ingenuity behind sustaining an artistic life.
Opens May 29th 6-9pm
Closes: July 12th
@ The Clemente 4th Floor Gallery (107 Suffolk Street, 4th floor)

We're having a release party for our new EP Insurgent Ecology in Brooklyn @wondervillenyc on May 30th with a bunch of sick bands that we are homies with!
This show will also double as a benefit for @abcnorio to raise funds for the venue space and equipment for the new building, which we hope to throw many grind and hardcore shows at in the future!
As always at Wonderville, the indie arcade cabinets are all free to play. Moisturizer is coming down from Providence, and Muscipula is coming up from Baltimore. And on the more local side, we'll have Internalizer from NJ and a new project with members of Chemical Man called RPK.
Twin telepathy is real: “Being twins is definitely an unusual life experience; it seems the only way Venus Twins works is that the only two people in the band have this specific connection to one another.” @venus_twins was founded in Denton, TX in the summer of 2018 by Jake (drums) and Matt Derting (bass and vocals) and relocated to Brooklyn, NYC shortly after their inception. The band is influenced by bands such as Hella, Gilla Band, Machine Girl, JOHNNASCUS, PageNinetyNine, Melt Banana, The Locust, The Mars Volta, and Anthony Green, as well as non-musical artists like Kurt Vonnegut, Andy Kaufman, Robert Eggers, the feeling of constantly being stressed out, and living in NYC.
Catch Venus Twins on Friday, June 12th! Tickets at the link in bio.
Registration now open for Seth Tobocman’s Comics as Political Expression class! (Register through link in bio.)
This is a class for students hoping to express their political convictions through the medium of comics, cartooning, or illustration. Run and taught by the radical comic artist and founder/editor of World War 3, Seth Tobocman.
The class is open to artists at any skill level. The ideas presented are narrative and conceptual and will work just as well with stick figures as with detailed, realistic drawings. But the assumption is that everyone here wants to produce art, not just talk about it. Everyone in the class will be treated respectfully and criticized constructively, as a working artist.
Comics, today, have emerged as an important art form, influencing film, politics and other aspects of culture. Many organizations today use graphic novels to draw attention to their issues. But comics have a long tradition. Cartoonists played a significant role in the American, French, and Russian revolutions, in the abolitionist, civil rights and feminist movements. Most of the pioneers of American comics were from working-class backgrounds.
We will look at the many ways that artists have expressed political concerns throughout history with an eye towards seeing what techniques we can apply in our own work.
First Class: May 17, 2026, from 1:00pm to 3pm (EST)
Continuing on subsequent Sundays through Tuesday September 20, 2026.
Course Fee: $200
To register, see the link in bio (linktree). For more information, email us at [email protected]

Guess whose got some ABC No Rio guitars comin up!?
Most importantly I will be doing an auctioned guitar to help the re-construction process of this amazing (very close to my heart) venue and community! :
After 10 years in exile and without a building, @abcnorio is coming back to 156 Rivington Street!
ABC No Rio is a volunteer-led nonprofit community center for arts and activism. Since 1980, they have provided a home for the culture of opposition and DIY spirit and facilitated cross-pollination between artists, punks and activists committed to social justice.
To raise money to furnish and kit out their new building, I am making them a guitar using wood from the old joist lots of their old building! The guitar will be on auction at their art benefit being held on Friday, June 5th @_howlarts
Thank you to the whole crew and everyone stay tuned!! What an amazing thing to be part of. 🙌🏻✨🎶🌹💫⚡️🤍 (: Xx
