On Halloween, nearly 500 vets and virgins alike turned out for our 50th anniversary Rocky Horror shadowcast. They pelted us with rice and toast while we danced in fishnets and thongs, and we all generally just had a gay ol' time. How funny that something so silly could be so very life-affirming.

Still pinching myself. Don't feel real. I continue to make progress in my writing career. I'm literally fulfilling lifelong dreams, getting closer and closer to my ultimate goal of getting a book published.

What's more is that some people in my life told me that I wouldn't be successful for being openly queer or for writing about taboo subjects. I sure don't look like a lotta people's conceptions of success: my bank account is woeful. But I remember telling my dad when I was 14 that I'd be happy working most jobs so long as I had time and energy to write.

Ever since the advent of digital publishing, there's a huge divide between online platforms and print. With the demand for online content only continuing to rise, many publishers have become more and more selective with which pieces end up in their costly print editions. Consequently, I'm over the moon to have made the cut, alongside other great "Confessayists" like @ggsauvage . This is my first time ever seeing my name in a print publication and I'm delighted that it's connected to a piece that's unabashedly trans and sex-positive 💜💙🩷❤️ Special shoutout to @kaylakibbe who might just be the coolest editor in the world.

Let's make something perfectly clear: gender transition hasn't solved all of my problems. I still struggle with mental illness and self-esteem (although I fake it till I make it). In fact, one of the most frustrating things about being trans is not being able to effectively articulate how beneficial transitioning has been for me.

Not a day goes by that I regret top surgery. Not a day goes by that I've regretted being on hormone therapy since I was 21 years old (I turn 26 in a few weeks).

I love both of these versions of myself. And yes, I've changed. I've become bolder and more authentic. But at my core, I'm just the same spirit in a different package. You can now see me more clearly.
