This itty bitty painting is including in @lukewhittaker191 ‘s show @utopiaupstate opening this Saturday, May 2 from 4-7 pm. You should come, it will be a blast with fabulous paintings and cocktails 🍸 🍹 Speakeasy Happy Hour provides a unique opportunity to engage an audience in the perception of art by exploring the question, How can art be tasted, smelt, or touched when it demands the privacy of its personal space? Curation exists to take disparate artworks and initiate an emotional or physical response through the viewer’s personal experience. Speakeasy Happy Hour endeavors to bridge the physical boundaries between art and the audience by pairing specific drinks with the already curated selection of artwork. Gallery-goers are encouraged to investigate the artwork, soaking in colors, scenes, and figures while exploring its essence captured in the paired cocktail’s taste, smell, and touch. Artists: Abbi Kenny, Eden Taff, Hannah Lupton Reinhard, Luke Morrison, Noelle Timmons, and Sylvie Mayer “Outlander! We have your woman!” 2026 acrylic and acrylic gouache on panel 10 x 8 inches

Hudson Valley-based painter @abbihkenny works within one of art history’s oldest traditions: the painted still life. Since the Dutch Golden Age, artists have used food to explore themes of abundance, mortality and the passage of time, and Kenny’s approach to the subject similarly transcends mere documentation. Diagnosed with celiac disease in 2021, she developed a deep, personal connection to food as a lens through which she could reflect on memory, tradition and personal identity. Observer’s @christa__terry caught up with Kenny to ask about memory, paintmaking and what a recipe can reveal about a life. Read the full conversation at the link in our bio

Played a round with a bunch of new ways to work on and off the canvas collaging with paint. Kind of based on the remnants and ideas for other paintings. Hoping to get more time in the studio during these doldrums of winter ❄️ Spine 2025 acrylic, molding paste, glitter, glass flakes, glass beads, peridot, quartz, muscovite mica, and Yupo collage on canvas 36 x 24 inches

The other painting I had the honor to make for Les Dîners de Gala @main_projects_ in response to Salvador Dalí’s 1973 cookbook of the same name. It was en exciting challenge to make paintings in relation to such an exceptional artist’s work! The show is up through December 18th. Fishy Fish, Fishes-Fruits of the Sea 2025 acrylic, acrylic gouache, oil, cellulose, pumice gel, Muscovite mica, iron glimmer, mother of pearl, peridot, Yupo collage on canvas 40 x 40 inches
