Ayah, you have always been and will always be my greatest inspiration. So, what’s next for Abang Brian? From an industry that once rejected me because of my ethnicity to proving that food is a universal language that transcends fear and division, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From countless cooking shows to hosting my own daytime radio show, publishing 7 cookbooks, earning international Gourmand awards and nominations, running a cooking school for children for over 11 years, and teaching at the world-renowned Le Cordon Bleu—every step has been about making an impact through food. Now, I’m setting my sights on an even bigger stage—shaping the way we eat on a global scale. May He guide me to serve with purpose and passion. The journey continues. ✨ #AbangBrian #FoodBeyondBorders

The Chinese restaurants changed how America eats. 🥡 But the truth is, it’s disappearing. As first-generation owners retire, their kids often move on to new paths. Now, chefs like Chef Tim Ma are redefining what the next chapter of Chinese food in America looks like — honoring the takeout classics while bringing back the flavors of home. 🥢 💬 Comment and let us know what dish do you think of when someone mentioned “Chinese food”? As age, I see my mother’s strength in a whole new way every single day. The quiet sacrifices. The silent grief. The courage to keep going when life felt impossible. Mothers carry so much that the world never sees. They hold families together through loss, change, heartbreak, and every challenge life brings. Today and everyday we honor our mothers who have loved, sacrificed, endured, and stayed strong for the people they love. Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️

Do you agree that some of the best meals in the world are found on the streets? 👀👇 Tag the country with the BEST street food 🇲🇾🇹🇭🇻🇳🇸🇬🇮🇩🇵🇭🇯🇵🇰🇷🇮🇳 Some of the best food in Asia doesn’t come with a Michelin star. It comes with plastic stools, smoky woks, handwritten menus, and recipes passed down for generations. 🍜🔥 From late-night satay stalls in Malaysia to sizzling alleyway noodles in Bangkok, the streets are where culture truly lives. Because in Asia, street food isn’t “cheap food.” It’s heritage. It’s memory. It’s identity.

In Mexico City, every monument holds memory: of people, power, resistance, and identity shaped over time. Walking through these spaces reminds me: culture isn’t just something we taste… it’s something we inherit, witness, and carry forward. And as someone constantly moving between worlds, I see cities like this not just as destinations( but as conversations.

Why so much hate? This is real Rendang talk supported by FACTS! Some of you want food to fit borders. History does not work like that. Rendang carries roots, journeys, migration, and memory. That is the beauty of our region. 🇮🇩🇲🇾

This might stir up some controversy, but the truth is, it’s okay with me because it shows something more beautiful than claiming: it’s shared heritage. 🥢✨ Many Malaysians trace the modern Yee Sang we know today to Seremban, Malaysia, where restaurateur Loke Ching Fatt is said to have popularised a colourful, celebratory version in the 1940s. Singapore, meanwhile, has its own strong view: the modern festive version of lo hei, with its symbolic ingredients and prosperity toss, is often linked to the “Four Heavenly Kings” chefs in Singapore in the 1960s. So maybe Yee Sang is not about who gets to claim it, but how migration, memory, and community shaped it across Southeast Asia. At its heart, it is about abundance, rising prosperity, togetherness, and speaking blessings into the new year. Food is never just food. Sometimes, it is history tossed high on a plate. A snippet from a previous episode of @hungryimmigrant featuring my dear friend from the MasterChef All Stars, Double PhD and Miss Malaysia.
