Join us this Sunday for a screening and community discussion of the film: Free Chol Soo Lee
RSVP at: tinyurl.com/FCSLTara
Date: Sunday, April 19th
Time: 2:30pm - 5pm
Location: Tara Theater
Synopsis:
In 1970s San Francisco, 20-year-old Korean immigrant Chol Soo Lee is racially profiled and convicted of a Chinatown gang murder. Sentenced to life, he spends years fighting to survive until investigative journalist K.W. Lee takes a special interest in his case, igniting an unprecedented push for social action that would unite Asian Americans and inspire a new generation of activists.
Nearly five decades later, award-winning journalists Julie Ha and Eugene Yi excavate this largely unknown yet essential history in their riveting Sundance selection Free Chol Soo Lee. Combining rich archival footage, firsthand accounts, and narration drawn from personal writings, this poignant documentary paints an intimate portrait of the complex man at the center of a movement and serves as an urgent reminder that his legacy is more relevant
than ever.
Meet @tiffblot ! The artist behind AAVEd's 2026 AANHPI Heritage Month Kit Feature Design!
Tiff Chau (@tiffblot ) is an Asian American illustrator born and raised in Georgia. She celebrates slices of life through her watercolor artwork that captures the warmth of culture and the nostalgia in the well worn corners of our hearts. In honor of her childhood spent working in her family restaurant, Tiff also collaborates regularly with local non-profits and small businesses. Her greatest joy is creating artwork for her community, and sharing stories about the little things over a big bowl of soup!
Join us this Saturday at our HMK assembly and pick-up party and see her artwork in person!

Thank you to our amazing pre-service teachers and presenters for showing up and sharing resources on teaching Asian American and Latinx history in Georgia classrooms!
Together, we learned that incorporating ethnic studies into the curriculum is possible and being done in Georgia classrooms. And how we can teach Asian American and Latinx history through lesson plans, presentations, and activities.
This event was made possible thanks to @neatoday
