This one is still hitting me the same as the day we wrote it. I'm a people pleaser through-and-through. My music and my life is typically reflected through rose-tinted glasses. I've never fully given myself space to realize how overwhelming it can be to try to be everything you think everyone wants you to be all the time. Lately, that feeling has been hitting me like a ton of bricks. I've been pretty terrible at setting boundaries and sacrifice my own well-being for others. Writing this song has been a bit of a break through in understanding my tendencies, and a help with moving forward in a healthier way with my brand of positivity. My hope is that the lyrics help you peel back the layers on something in your life that has you overwhelmed, maybe even to something you don't realize is happening.

Mother’s Day is one of the hardest days for so many people — and the world doesn’t always leave room for that.
I wrote “Maybe That’s Why” for my mom, who passed away in 2024 after a courageous battle with ALS. Today I’m also holding my wife close, as we remember her mom, who we lost in 2017.
