In true Amanda & Mari fashion — we got shotgun married two days before my departure to NYC.
I may have woken up that morning not knowing we would spontaneously tie the knot but the decision to commit our lives to one another was many years in the making ❤️
I’m the luckiest gal to call you my partner in life, mi amor. Can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together and see what adventures await & what memories we will create.

The truth is—I didn’t set out to be a grip. I didn’t really know the full scope of what the industry could offer, but I was hungry & ready to experience anything & everything. I was working as a PA on one of the hottest Texas summer days I’ve ever experienced. A key grip approached me & offered me a chance to work with him on a show. Here I am still, many years later, gripping it & ripping it across the US all because I jumped on opportunities as they came.
Since then I’ve been fortunate to have met & been guided by some of the most talented technicians in the business. Every day is a chance to show & prove that women not only succeed, but can thrive amongst the best of them.
I’m 5’2” & look like a good breeze could Mary Poppins my ass across the Atlantic, and yet I’ve been able to excel & earn my place. We show people that we don’t have to be a big burly dude to engineer a rig, to shape light, or operate a big lift/crane/dolly.
All you need is the right coaching, to be savvy, motivated, proactive—& most importantly, have a good attitude. These are the components that make good technicians.
I’m happy to see the rise of women in this department kicking ass & taking names. When I started I knew exactly two other female grips. Now I’m thrilled to say I know many more & am incredibly glad there’s a space with @girlswannaloadtrucks where we can help build, connect, & uplift each other.
Let’s continue to show these folks what we’re made of & redefine what a grip really looks like 🤠

while training at The Gym/JLeagues in Flatbush, we decided to come up with a fun tactical scenario that combined what we had been working on that session.
Thanks to our team for making this fun & safe!
