Congratulation to the winners, and thank you to all those that entered.
This Thursday at the Robert Emmet Theatre, I am giving a lecture titled: The Architecture of Softness
Do broken windows lead to murder? Can a bench cause crime? Are buildings that require occasional maintenance fueling social decay? Is permanently pristine architecture a problem, and what can designers learn from heavy metal, earth mosques and the Emir of Zazzau? In this expansive talk, writer and sculptor Phineas Harper will discuss the creative, expressive and ecological potential of fixing in architecture and beyond asking what happens when every act of repair is taken, not as correcting a failure, but as an opportunity for culture and improvement.
