I frivolously spent my raffle winnings from June on a PC upgrade using the new @thermaltake_na Strawberry Mint Tower 600. I love how this turned out!!! If anyone needs help picking out PC parts or designing a build please hit me up!
Audrey Jonas and I are co-hosting the second annual Comedy for Choice Fundraiser at Lincoln Lodge! Audrey has put together a fantastic lineup of comedians and we hope you can join us to support Planned Parenthood and have fun while you’re doing it! I dunno about you but I sure could use a few laughs right now. Ticket link in bio!
This is Deco. Elizabeth spotted Deco staring at her from the back deck of a house for sale a few doors down. After giving her food and water and assessing her temperament, I was easily able to put a collar and leash on her and led her to our garage to warm up in front of a space heater until we could take her to Animal Care and Control. Within a few hours, we got attached, because she is the sweetest dog. We adopted her from CACC as soon as we were able and were so delighted to take her home with us on December 19th.
She seemed to be abandoned after being used for breeding and is about 18 months old. Like many pitbulls, she is convinced that she’s a lapdog and loves to snuggle. She greatly appreciates the large number of sofas we have available at Fort Bennett for lounging.
On December 20th, just a few months after saying goodbye to Winkles, we said goodbye to Mashenka. She was very old and fell ill quickly, so she didn’t suffer long.
Elizabeth and I were stunned, because like many, we thought she would live forever, fueled by her hatred of other people and rage at being such a powerful being trapped in a tiny body.
Mashenka was a tough beast to love—she was rude, she yelled a lot, she had no respect for my boundaries and ruined multiple ink drawings always wanting to jump on my shoulders to snuggle while I was mid-stroke, she sowed chaos laying on my keyboard when I left the room for even a minute, she was a total bitch to everyone I dated, she had a vendetta against universally beloved Mama Ensign, she crashed every Teams meeting and may be the only scarf cat to appear before the Cook County Board of Commissioners, and I’m going to miss her terribly. I spent most of my adult life with her, and it’s incredibly tough to lose her and Winkles in such a short time.
The ending is bittersweet, though, because she passed the day after we brought home a very sweet new beast I will introduce in the following post.
