Building shelter in burned landscapes. We (Helene and Karoline) are currently traveling in southern Europe to explore and interact with landscapes and their relations to fire. Here we are in Saint Laurent de la Cabrerisse, France, which had a fire event last summer.

Aarhus Landscape Laboratory transformations with @aaa_studio_1f done! . Today we walked the landscape laboratory to present our finished river forest transformation prototypes. . We have made spatial interventions in the 11 year young forest landscape, from small clearings, rock gardens and interior forest chambers to long views and a 100m-forest that weaves inside and outside together. . @aaa_studio_1f have moved our studio space to Åbo Skov! . For two weeks we are onsite explorers of new Water- and Nature Parks in #aarhus together with Aarhus Municipality. . Working on-site in the great October weather. . Åbo Forest is the western-most site in the school’s Landscape Laboratory - the outdoor workshop space of @aarchdk which spans the Aarhus River Valley. . Yes, the school’s workshop spaces are not just steel, wood and robots! . They are also living trees, rivers and earthly matters! . But what does Åbo Forest have to do with the Aarhus School of Architecture? . A whole lot! . Every time you take a glass of clean and cold drinking water from the school’s water taps, you drink ground water pumped from below Åbo Forest! . So yes: . @aaa_studio_1f keeps @aarchdk hydrated! . The autumn semester has now launched with great lectures by @laure_baretaud on @landlabs.eu Professor Thomas Juel Clemmensen from @taca_larch on his research on nature restoration and dissonant heritage and all time cool forest guy Peter Søgaard from Aarhus Municipality in Åbo Forest! . Most of the first days have been outside in Aarhus Landscape Laboratory walking the river landscapes of Eskelunden and Åbo Forest. . The two sites marks the start and end of the new Water and Nature Park on its way in the Aarhus River Valley - our main focus this semester! . Lolland Submerged… . Now, summer holiday! . But as a final thing, Studio 1F Emerging Landscapes @aarchdk has been exhibiting some of our work on a submerging Lolland in the Studio. . Worth noting; a rising sea and ground water table will lead to Southern Lolland becoming a watery fjord again - let’s propose something radical, ie. Lolland becoming a coastal spanning bird sanctuary on one of the great migratory highways between Africa and northern Scandinavia…we are not the only ones living off of its lowlying lands. .
