When booking a headliner for this event we ask ourselves one simple question: Who do WE desperately want to see perform live? Because if we're going to pay for an artist to be here it might as well be someone that we ourselves would love to see and that we know isn't normally on tour in our state so they can be exposed to a new audience as well!

Have you listened to "Parody of Love (Gallant)" yet?
Every time I try to write something vulnerable on an app it comes out sounding like a damn essay, so hey, maybe I'll try again. And again, until you're sick of me 😜 I've been walled off for years. Healing. I've been in EMDR for the last three years, processing trauma, trying to fall in love with music again. Trying to love myself. "Please let the stars catch me before I'm too far gone" is me pleading to stop dissociating. For things to feel real again. Parody discusses some big feelings I was experiencing at the tail end of a rocky relationship, and describes it with Victorian/turn of the century metaphors while longing for space.
In 2021, the unthinkable happened: music just started to sound like shades of beige. The rise of AI hasn't been helping, that's for sure. (F$&k Sonos 🖕) Lately, however, there's been more vibrant colors when I listen to music. When we recorded this album, I fell head over heels in love with the tracks (we haven't even released my favorites yet!), and I was able to fully express myself. There are a lot of themes of soothing oooohs in the background of breakdowns on this album, as you'll hear eventually. A lot of themes of grappling with getting older, processing trauma, escapism, anxiety, and depression. You'll read and hear all about it as we continue to release our songs. Because dammit, I'm determined to let you all in a little more, as difficult as it is. Why not? 🖤🌛

Feeling adrift in the midst of a challenging relationship is excruciating. You wake up, pretend that everything is fine, and carry on with your life. In the 19th century, women would put droplets of belladonna in their eyes to dilate them. This presented the illusion that they were attracted to their suitor. They would chew on arsenic wafers for bright eyes, and to achieve a translucent quality to their skin. "Spirits of Saturn" was a lead powder that they used on their faces to achieve a pale complexion. In my lyrics for "Parody of Love," I explore the torturous methods that we use to fool ourselves into thinking that we're happy in an unhealthy relationship, and how that illusion can leave you feeling lost.
