encens à la aquilaria, our debut low smoke incense Agarwood anchors the scent with an enveloping, resinous and smoky aroma, evocative of hay drying in the sun. At the heart of encens à la aquilaria lies the powdery warmth of sandalwood, a softer note that adds a subtle depth to the composition. Patchouli infuses the fragrance with earthiness and a sweet character.

The history of Japanese incense is a history of patience. Of honoring materials that take decades—sometimes centuries—to reveal their true character. The genesis of À LA incense making traces back to the shores of Ajawi Island in the Japanese archipelago, where we first encountered the story of agarwood. For over a thousand years, this rare, resinous wood has been revered in Japan. Our repeated journeys to the island, and our proximity to the craftsmen who manipulate this ancestral material by hand, became a fundamental inspiration. Their approach is precise and deeply reverent.

sounds À LA: volume 2 is now live at the link in bio You’ll hear patience in Dorothy Ashby’s harp, warmth in Letta Mbulu’s voice, cosmic openness in Ashra and Electronic System, grounded rhythm in Cymande and Admas. This is music for preparing a room. For lighting a stick in the early morning. For refreshing a potpourri vessel at dusk. For moments when the goal isn’t stimulation, but alignment. Handcrafted in Japan with intention, our pot pourri à la lamia is designed to gently infuse a space with warmth and character. Within this fragrance, frankincense radiates hues of amber and resinous depth while evoking calm and reverence. Sandalwood brings a soft, powdery richness that grounds the composition as patchouli contributes an earthy, slightly sweet scent that unfolds over time; offering a nuanced complexity.

encens à la aquilaria is a fragrance of rare distinction composed/conceived around one of the rarest materials: agarwood. This revered wood anchors the scent with an enveloping, resinous and smoky aroma, evocative of hay drying in the sun. At the heart of encens à la aquilaria lies the powdery warmth of sandalwood, a softer note that adds a subtle depth to the composition. Patchouli infuses the fragrance with earthiness and a sweet character.
