I am a street and documentary photographer based in Hackney. My process involves a lot of walking and trusting my intuition, trying to shoot without thinking too much and responding to what catches my eye.
As well as shooting street photography around Central London, I’m also drawn to shoot around my local area, in the quieter parts of Hackney like the parks and back roads. These areas are full of interesting characters and quiet, intimate moments which show a softer side to city-life.

London feels a little lighter in the parks. Fun, playful moments like this are more common there than they are in the streets. For me, the parks provide some relief from the city which can sometimes feel abrasive and overwhelming, and I think this is reflected in these boys running through the leaves.

I met Robert behind Hackney Church, where he was feeding the squirrels. We chatted for a while, and he told me how his wife used to feed them, but she had recently passed away, so now he was doing it as a way of honouring her. It’s obvious that Robert adored his wife Caroline and he’s having a hard time grieving, but feeding the squirrels is helping him feel closer to her.
