Welcome to my ~spring capsule~
🌟 Self drafted corset from upcycled table runner. I made this project with the intention of practicing structured garments because I'm getting married (!!) and my wedding dress making saga is about to begin soon. Then I wore this for out to dinner and dancing for my birthday (and slept on a couch in it) and found out that corsets are very uncomfortable.
🌟 Matchbook jeans from @daughterjudypatterns
🌟 Cut out back tank from @june.pattern.studio
🌟 Self drafted mini skirt from scraps
🌟 Saturday skirt by @cayden.naughton
🌟 2x shorts modified from my favourite Pacific pants by @laraehandmade
Bonus: 2 WIPs 🍀 and there was one more shirt but it has been taken by the entity in my house that hides my clothes. If it reappears it'll be with the next dump.
Other life updates: I registered for a half marathon, have 1 more month left of school, and have mice in my garden
Bday cake for Sophia: brown butter sponge, cherry compote, espresso chocolate ganache, whipped mascarpone 🍒 swipe to see in action. I've been really liking the pastry journey I've been on and wanna get more creative with it 🌀🌀
Slowly starting to post again, this spring has been a little overwhelming so I've been offline 🌟 Una's birthday cake from a few months back: strawberries, cream & cherry blossoms with a matcha sponge and rose+vanilla bean bavarian cream. 2nd pic is the best I could find of what it actually looked like inside lol.
Angel food cake for @steelcutteeth 's valentine's day birthday ❣️ spiced with cardamom, because cream+fruit combo in february reminds me of laskiaispulla, & garnished with dried flowers from last year's garden :)
And the birthday present, a quilted tote bag, my first finished quilting project 🪻🧵
I completed my first new years resolution which was to sew a pair of jeans!
These are the May jean from @makebytfs #tfsmay and the fabric is 9.5oz bull denim from @blackbirdfabrics .
I'm happy I chose a relatively lightweight denim for my first pair of jeans as it was a breeze to work with. I also decided to make these in black & with black topstitching in order to minimize the visibility of inevitable flaws, and because I was missing a pair of relaxed fit black jeans from my wardrobe (but they are soooo hard to photograph).
Other people who've made this pattern have had a lot to say about the waistband easing, and after trying to do it unmodified I gave up and decided to add a few cm. It feels a little loose but nothing that a belt can't fix. I think next time I'd try to either size down or adjust the rise to be lower, or both. I also didn't pre-shrink the fabric, so after a couple washes they fit a lot snugger (but also took some length off).
I'm 5'5 ish & made an AU size 12.
Also pictured: a slightly modified @wardrobebyme Dukke blouse I managed to make from just 1m of fabric (!!), and @witredesign Collett jacket I made a looong time ago. Thank you Garett my personal photographer as always <3
This year we spent Christmas + New Years exploring around Oaxaca and this is everything me-made that I packed :) These pants are also the best and most versatile and comfortable travel pants ever!!
Weather and daylight hours have not been permitting for photography so here's a quick at-home photoshoot of some of the garments I'll have on sale at @slicevancouver Mini Mart tomorrow :) 3pm-8pm, come hang out!!
