My contribution to @hostel_beirut ‘s calendar ‎حدائق الثبات Here’s my piece and everything that led to it including dying my hair green, gathering plants, painting with a worm :/, sketching portraits of yogi and me that dont look like us, catching rainbows, and other creative outlets… point was to enjoy the process. This was November for me so im happy i got this month 🗓️ You can find yours at the hostel and in nearby locations, support this beautiful space!

Saying goodbye to this painting and to every lesson that came with it. @redndre ‘s face has been staring at me for a year while i try to get my shit together to complete him. If images could speak he would tell you i went to hell and back this year trying to figure my life out. Ironically enough Reda himself commissioned me this work at a time he was turning his life around. When we met on a video call we spoke a lot about making a living vs following your dreams in this economy. We were both worried that train had passed but we both committed to at least trying. This raised a lot of questions about how to make a living from art that takes soul from you when time dissipates into unfulfilling bill paying jobs. That’s what made him stay with me way longer than it should have and im lucky i was understood. So much gratitude goes to you Reda for this journey of making your portrait. Sometimes art blocks drag longer than expected, and it makes you question everything. What happens to a dream deferred?
